This is great, thanks @bellgolf, i can see how its almost impossible to do this during the round, but I have a photographic memory so I can easily just enter in after the round.

@bellgolfWorking on trying this spreadsheet, thanks for making this available! I seem to get an error on the formulas if I attempt to track a chip within 10y, is this expected? If I put 10 in the box where 9 is, the formulas work correctly

Most likely because the data he had, 10 was the minimum value

Makes sense, seems weird to put 10y in for every chip shot even if i was right on the fringe next to the hole but maybe it doesn't make that much of a difference

The strokes gained is calculated using a the strokes gained chart from "Every Shot Counts" and then a comparison for each handicap from shot scope. 

 

That sheet needs to be copied so the master sheet can pull the required info from it

 

For the life of me I can't figure out how to copy the spreadsheet either.  How do we make our own copy of it?

The way i do it on my iphone is: 

 

click three dots top right corner

 

then share and export, then make a copy

Yea i always kinda fluctuate on that stuff. Its not perfect. I can be 15 feet from the hole but 3 inches of fringe to putt through. Green? Miss? Texas wedge count as a putt?

For sure. I am a strong believer in anytime a putter is in the hand its a putt for SG data. Otherwise I'm just lying to myself about how good of a putter I am and that's no way to improve.

 

Speaking of putting, had this horrific display in a tournament the other day lmao

I downloaded this and switched it to excel. However, getting errors with links to your checkbox for 9 holes. Any fix for this? @bellgolf

Update: is there an excel version of this? It looks like the conversion from sheets to Excel has messed up everything. Redownloaded and everything but still issues.

 

Overall - this is awesome and I'd really like to use this for my game! Just need technology to work for me 🙂

I've made a personal version of this spreadsheet that allows me to type in the length of a hole and it spits out the maximum length left to hole after tee shot in order for strokes gained to be positive for fairway and rough. had to create a bunch of numbers from averages to get it working though. can someone create a spreadsheet that does this from the base data and upload it as a template. please and thank you ;}

Excel doesn't treat "" as Zero like Sheets does. A lot of the calculations are IF CELL IS BLANK THEN "" and when Excel goes to SUM that "" it gives you the error. You'll need to go through most of the IF calculated cells and change =IF(P16="", "", P16-I16-1-P17) to =IF(P16="", "0", P16-I16-1-P17) for example.

This is laid out a lot easier, check it out.  It is also more accurate, since I have the GolfMetrics app and did a whole bunch of tests to line up the data (including adding "deep rough" as an option.

Thanks for putting this together. I used the free Taylormade version as it was the only free version. Now the android app is unusable so I needed a new way. This is much faster.

This is great! I used Drawmorecircles for 5 rounds using their free trial. I'm going to enter the same rounds here for comparison/calibration. 

 

On that site, options for SG Golfer Comparison are: Scratch, D3 College, D2 College, D1 College, Pro or something like that. 

 

I'm about a 11 HCP, so I picked scratch, but love that this sheet has more suitable options like 5HCP, 10HCP etc.

How does it work if I hit an iron off the tee.   In previous apps I've used, I would gain x.xx shots for hitting a 2iron in the fairway given it was the smart play.

So in the back ground the Pen connects to you mobile or you can upload the information direct from the pen post round, this then generates your strokes gained information even club selection, if you want to dive deeper into you information we can create cm accurate data for each club, as we will be generating self print yardage books. we and also stream live scores direct from the score card.

 

so as it is now, would will have a strokes gained card and a smart pen, you would write D for driver 3W etc for club selection, this is provided in the cards which we will be using in the system, by connecting the pen to your phone you can see you live strokes gained data as you play. this will also save battery life on your mobile device and also give you real time insights to you game, instead of using ARRCOS which is a little long winded for me,

yes you can see this as an amateur also, we will be launching the full system this year, it is called Smart Score Data

Hi Sam i have a trokes gained system which allows handicap entry, all you have to do is enter the course data..
