Well, it's done.  Irons are ordered.  And a bonus putter :).

I am not going to go on about the clubs that the guys make.  The clubs speak for themselves.  If you know, you know.

I will say that there are no more humble and kind guys in the business.  I'm a 56 year old hack and when I walk in the shop they greet me by name.  I'm not Rocco or Tommy or Tiger, but they know my name.  That's pretty special.

Did the iron fitting with Jamie.  About 75 minutes out in the Texas heat and humidity pounding 7 irons (some really good shots and some really bad shots).  Turns out the third combo that we tried was the winner and those extra minutes were just time spent talking golf and life with a damn good guy.

Then I went to talk to John about another putter.  Two grandsons means I need two putters to hand down.  Got that squared away and just talked for 20 or 30 minutes.  Time to go...

Resized_20230621_142356.jpeg.23d2afae56e3d92ca7fafbcd8b5c7e5d.jpeg

Walked out the door and Mike was there taking a break.  Ended up talking to him about golf and life for another 30 minutes.  I could listen to Mike Taylor stories all day.

I'd take a job emptying their garbage cans if I could get it when I retire from my real job.  The shop is like a little slice of golf heaven.

Jamie did say invites are out to around player 1050 - he didn't give me an exact number.  He said players buying irons have been running about 3 out of 10 invites.  He is doing one wedge fitting and one iron fitting a day, every day, five days a week.  I hope he works in a vacation at some point.  Irons are taking two to three weeks depending on shaft and grip availability.

Great info! I'm patiently awaiting my number being called for irons and this now has me considering a second putter!

This is one of those, 'definition of golfwrx' responses.

I can’t believe it took me as long as it did to get to your comment after reading that and thinking “this actually makes sense to most people reading it on golf wrx” and then I remembered I should probably be looking at Japanese auctions before the dollar loses ground to the yen because I am one of those people who also thought that comment seemed head nod passable as financially responsible…..

What sort of shaft options did they have to hit?

I tend to play slightly exotic shafts and I'm a little concerned they may not have what I normally play...

I hit a few different shafts of each KBS, Nippon, True Temper, and SteelFiber.  I saw LA Golf shafts on the cart but didn't hit one.  There were a few others I didn't hit.  I wasn't really paying attention.  I just hit whatever Jamie handed me next.

That’s good to hear. I’ve been a Modus 120X player for a number of years now and it’s been a great shaft but I do have an itch to try some of the LA Golf options, heard some great things about them.

I could not agree more... They are the best dudes and I could stay and chat golf or anything really with them all day.  They cleaned up and blasted my older wedges while I was doing my iron fitting free, I didn't even ask for it, it was like leaving with fresh wedges.

As busy as they are they always take their time with you and you never feel rushed.

Thanks for info in advance. Going in August to see Jamie for irons already have the wedges. Do they have all 3 full sets of irons or is just 7 irons only to try.  Interested in a combo set.

thx

If I remember correctly, they have FC, HC, and MB heads in 5, 7, and 9 at stock lie, 2* flat, and 2* upright.  Might have been more, but I only hit the 7 in MB, HC, and FC.  Started on stock lie and moved to 2* flat.

Long time listener, first time caller.

For those of you wondering when your number will be called, I picked up my putter today. I am #1827 and asked about irons. I did not speak to Jamie but they did say that they expect to be through my number by EOY or very early next year. If you pass, you will be able to get back in line but they will start opening to the public at some point.

Will be there next week if anyone has questions, I’ll try to ask and get answers.

Received my invite in early May but living in northern state waited to go down until I was able to knock off the winter rust and get the game in shape.
