Who’s the golfer your kid looks up to and why? (Tiger excluded)

Mine doesn't look up to anyone.  Used to really like Phil and Brooks.  Both kind of have been $%^& bags lately.

I know the aim of this was probably tour pro's, but if I'm being honest my son's favorite golfers are the Good Good crew...he can (and will) watch their content all day long...and for where he's at right now I think what they're putting out is great, they keep it fun, always 100% positive, just all around a great group of guys and they play some really good golf too

 

For tour pro's he loves Bryson, Spieth, Rory...

- Rory.  100%.  Such a great guy.  During a practice round, he noticed my son watching him tee off from a far distance and as he was waiting, waived to us to come over to come under the ropes to see him up close.  He patiently signed autographs and interacted with the crowd.  

- Hideki - again, saw my son, motioned over for him to come under the ropes to take a picture with him in the fairway, and had a great genuine smile. 

 

- Morikawa - Just likes him

My daughter loves Morikawa and Willie Z on the mens side. She's dapped them both up, so its the personal connection.

 

On the ladies side she actually loves HeeYoung Park, but that's because HY plays out of our club and the two of them hang out and play together. Non buddy ladies she is obsessed with Anna Davis - the ANWA winner. I've never seen my kid more nervous than when she got to meet Anna in PV a few weeks ago.

Oh yeah... Rory 100% all day every day.  If you've never heard the story about young Rory going to get an autograph from his hero Roy Keane it explains why Rory is so good to the young fans.

Like a post above.  Jordan was winning all the time when my son got into it.  Probably will always be his favorite.

 

He has been tracking Scottie lately as well.

My daughter likes the Korda sisters because of the Golf Digest cover story from two years ago, but she rarely watches... she won't take notice of any other pro golfer still on tour that she sees a pic of or playing.  She is also fascinated that Pano turned pro at 17, though she doesn't follow her progress.

 

One of the pros who used to teach my kids asked them who their favorite professional athletes were (right before that aforementioned Golf Digest dropped), and they couldn't even give the names of any besides a local LPGA pro ("Coach Jackie") who isn't on tour anymore (likes having kids better right now).  The pro was baffled, and he started throwing out names of a bunch of famous athletes--James, Williams sisters, and a couple more.  He mentioned Tiger, and they are both like, "Yeah, Amari from the short game likes him--he's really good, right?"

 

Proud day for me.

Look up to?  I'd say none.  You'd have to actually know the player to look up to them IMO.

 

His favorite player is Cantlay and I have no idea why. 🤪

 

Not a fan of Morikawa or Wolff since both of them totally blew my son off for an autograph one year at the Genesis on pro-am day while they were walking to the range. 😞
