Junior Golfer's Age, Height, Weight, Gear and Distance

Boys get a lot longer once there 15 or so.  Your son is probably at the age where he is growing and it just an awkward age
 

Max girls can realistically get is around 250-260 carry.  They can go longer but that is because of roll and maybe a day there hitting extra good.  Most girls never get near that distance and lucky to get past 200.

 

as for distance of irons it really doesn’t matter what a 7iron goes vs someone else. Ever set has a different loft so 7iron will be highly dependent on your iron set.  What you really want to know is what distance can you realistically hit the green the majority of the time.  (Usually a hybrid or iron).

 

There is a direct correlation to yardage you can play. From there you can see what your peers are scoring at the yardage to see where they are at.

What I'm saying is maybe my son should start playing more with high school girls.  It was great competition, but I just thought a high school girl jr/sr would be a lot longer than they were.  For girls that play ajga, my son beat them both by a few strokes.

Most girls are lucky to push 210 yards on there average drive.

 

a lot dads will claim 200 yards is closer to 275 yards.  If you girl is truly a long hitter you start to claim less yardage not more

We’ve had the same experience, being surprised by the distance disparity between boys and older girls. 
 

Here in TN it is common to see 17/18 year old girls playing the same distances as 12 year old boys.

I don't know why anyone is surprised that girls play the same distance as 12 year boys.  Look where the women tee's are in relation to the men's tee.'s. Even the LPGA is shorter then what they say. 

 

The reality is only a small portion of girls can play past 6000 yards and have a reasonable shot at par.
