This one came up to me while rolling past the cart barn last night.  Started gobbling for a handout.  I just laughed.  Later she camped out in the stones around the banquet facility and tried mooching from golfers on our patio.

Apologies in advance for allowing this to happen.  I hadn't played at Los Lagos in San Jose (California) in a while and I had forgotten about the foxes on the course.  I left my banh mi sandwich unattended in the cart and this was the result.

August 30th - Who says you can't get a Whitefish and golf at same time ? Yesterday on Hole #7, Sylvan Lake G&CC .... Osprey dropped his lunch while being pursued by a bunch of Ravens.

Turkey vultures...commonly called buzzards here in TX. Used to track those rascals with our system a lot. Very prevalent and easy to track, but provided a good checkout of our tracking system in preparation for more interesting targets.

Tracking & targets means shooting to me .... are they legal to shoot ? I imagine they're not that good to eat or are they ?

The government will seriously punish you if you actually kill one—or even try to capture one, for that matter. Turkey vultures are protected under federal law not only in the United States, but Canada and Mexico, too. You violate that law in the U.S., you’ll face up to $15,000 in fines and even a six-month prison stay.

 

They sure are ugly .... buddy took this pic just south of Calgary Ab.

We had a bunch of buzzards hanging around our course a couple of winters ago. The superintendent said the circling buzzards let him know where our group of old guys were on the course.

Almost all carrion birds are protected. Our system's intended purpose was to shoot things, but not animal life. We were very, very, very careful where we were aimed when we shot.
