First I got a bruise on the bottom of my foot a few weeks ago, the pain and swelling wasn’t going away so I went to my podiatrist and found out I tore the Posterior Tibial Tendon in my ankle. When starting PT, they thought I may have developed an infection, so the doctor switched from a brace to the boot and a big dose of antibiotics.  I think things are starting to get better, but I am not a fan of sitting around.

I doubt it, cause the adjustable air pump doesn’t work!

Packing an appropriate headcover for golfing in 100+ degree temps.  Last minute decision to also replace the broomstick putter with the "standard" White Hot OG #7 Bird. 

 

FedEx is supposed to deliver something before I leave for the airport so we'll see if it makes it in the bag.

I hope you heal soon.  That's a much bigger issue than my trying to figure out how to use kinesio tape for one of my big toes.

The weather here this week in the NC mountains has been fabulous and this golfer is mighty grateful for it. 🙂 It's dry, not hot, and mostly sunny. This weather reminds me of northern Michigan in June.

It's 71* with 37%humidity and a 10 mph breeze. I am finishing up my take out sub sandwich lunch here on the shore of Beaver Lake just north of downtown Asheville.

At 3 pm I'm playing CC of A with Peter, Stan, and unbelievably Ryan my buddy, coworker, and assistant pro at BFCC. I've been trying to get him out to CCA for two months. Finally it is happening. I enjoy watching scratch players take on that big golf course from the tips. I've played well over the last two days ....I hope it continues this afternoon.

Along a similar line I figured it is the US open and the cream rises to the top and all so after winning every single bet with Nelly this year, I decided to go big and placed a bet much higher than normal for Nelly to finish in the top 5 and top 10. After taking a 10 on a par 3 😱 I have to hope she makes the cut tomorrow. I guess that's why they call it ... Gambling: take risky action in the hope of a desired result.

I think she still has a solid chance of making the cut, this course is chewing a lot of good players up and nobody is jumping out in front.

... Thanks, that's my hope both for Nelly and my bank account. 🤑 If she can make the cut, she has a chance of climbing up the leader board on the weekend.

This Par 3 that Nelly took a 10 on is diabolical, but I also think it’s a great hole for a major.  Just watching there has been 48 balls in the water.

... Excellent video! 👍 My only complaint would only be the pin was too close to the false front. So many above the hole came up short because getting the ball to the hole risks rolling it off the front and into the water. Just 4 paces deeper and it would still be very difficult but allow players that hit a good shot to try and make their birdie. It is clearly Nelly's fault for trying to ht a perfect recovery shot not once but twice, with that false front taking her 2nd and 3rd balls in the water on just one hole. But the pin moved just 4 feet would have allowed her to go past the pin and have a shot at saving a double bogie. 

... We have a drivable par 4 and it is very similar with water guarding the front and it has the most severe undulations on the course. The false front stops tee shots carried over the lake but without enough velocity to land on the green and they roll back down and can go in the lake. About 10 times a year they put the pin just over the false front by a couple inches and twice it has actually been just on the slope and that caused back ups on the tee. Great hole, love the false front and undulations, just don't put the pin just on top of the false front. Give players 3 to 4 feet so they can go at the hole without fear of the ball rolling off the green. It sucks to have a 10 foot birdie putt or eagle and have to stop the ball a few inches in front of the hole because 3 inches past on either side and it is off the green.

Here are some good photos of the fairway verticutting project that was done this week on the course. The photos were shared with me from the assistant superintendent. They finished up late this morning and the course reopens today at noon. We have a packed tee sheet from noon until 5:30 PM. It is obvious the golfers missed the place. 😃

 

The large orange machine that is being pulled behind the tractor is the one that slices the cuts into the fairways. Jordon told me the machine picks up thatch and leaf material as it cuts the fairway and puts that stuff into the back of the machine to be dumped somewhere off the course.

Took W-T-F off this week to stain my deck.  Bought supplies, replaced one deck board and completed a few tangent tasks.

Zero stain applied, yet.

Have also played 54 holes while off... so far.  Heading out to play at least 18 more.  Feels like I'm...
