Please chisag provide a picture of a Cow Bird. In all my 15 years in the desert southwest I never heard of that fowl. 

 

 I have witnessed a few times the desert coming alive after weeks of  plentiful rain. It's rare but it enhances everything. It's awesome. Good stuff DJ.  🙂

Later in the day there were only two groups on the back 9 and we were one of them. How could this be I wondered ? This was perfect springtime golf weather. Their loss.

 

Tee to green I had it pretty much going on. 

Even though a few of my drives were weak pushes I still managed to miss only one fairway. I hit plenty of quality approach shots and a handful were right tight. My approach shot of the day was a 5 wood from 190 on the long par 4 17th to 9 feet enabling me to make my second birdie of the round. I hit my hybrids and irons many times to 10-15 feet of pins but failed miserably to capitalize on any of them. I had a balky putter all day. If I solely played one course a few times every week I would be an average putter, but because I play 6 or more courses regularly and face all kinds of different green speeds I am used the occasional round that features horrendous putting. The greens had smoothed out and they had been cut and rolled that morning. Last week they were sandy and bumpy. I could not adjust. I missed 4 birdie looks inside 12 feet. Even worse I three putted 4 times. I also half chunked two chips resulting in bogeys.

It was my mission to be victorious against the formidable competition that came up to play with me from Big Stu's state. Big Mike had an off day and shot in the mid 80's and Mr. William had something just north of 90. 

 

Balky putter and all this time the North won ! 

I can hear NCL shouting with joy from 4 hours away in Chapel Hill. 😆

Speaking of great baseball ⚾️🙃! Just announced last evening that the A’s, my team since I was a lil tyke, is heading to Vegas 😢 The silver lining is, now they’re someone else’s problem!!! So blank ‘em!!

Thanks Chip. Yeah it really sucks. It does genuinely feel like a breakup from a long time GF. Between the rumors of them going and the even more pathetic than usual excuse for a team they fielded this year, it’s been rough. Clear now they have intentionally tanked to create even more leverage to get out of OAK.

I didn't hear that was official.  Sucks for the people of the bay area.  Maybe they need to change that song title from Leaving Las Vegas to Leaving Oakland, its ironic that both the A's and Raiders left Oakland for none other than Vegas.

Or, they are going to leverage the poor turnout to say they are going to leave unless the tax payers pony up a new stadium.  You know, the stadium with a 30 year bond and then 30 years later they will come back because they need a new one again.

 

Nothing rankles me more than rich organizations who could do it themselves but put the onus on the taxpayer.  Hate it, regardless of the team.  The PGH teams did it too.  😤

 I say good for Oakland. Both organizations tried to strong arm the city and the tax payers  into giving them money and Oak held strong. I say 👏🏼 I don’t think the A’s ever really wanted to stay and just used Oak as leverage to get a better deal from the desert rats 🐀 Good business, but ouch for the fans.

Exactly what was happening Pete. It became a pissing match with the A’s wanting the city/taxpayers to flip more of the bill and the city held strong. Smart IMO and good for them.

I was watching the movie Major League last night and this is exactly what the Indians owner was trying to do.  Put such a bad product on the field where attendance dipped to a point they could break their lease and move.

I applaud the city of Oakland for being smart enough not to fall into that trap 🪤 again. Did it w/the Raiders when they got them back from LA… Only to have them eventually leave again! 

*I personally think the singer ⬆️ would look great in a headband! 🤣
