I also went for a fitting earlier this year, like you, mainly to get data. I’m done trying to buy a game, at least with equipment. My fitter was a former tour pro, mostly lower level tours, and is now an instructor. I took a couple of lessons with him and he really helped me get on the right path.

 

It’s definitely a process and probably why I’m so infatuated with golf. It’s the one sport that I haven’t been able to get by with on natural ability.

While I was down in Florida dealing with my mom and wanting to get even more serious about playing again I also bought a few of Monte’s videos and his Efficient Swing is what I’m using as the blueprint.  I do like his teaching style and although I’m still early in the process, the improvement from what I will call my session 1 last week to todays session 3 was noticeable.

... I think this is the thing with free fittings. You go there not expecting to buy or change clubs and the majority of the time that is exactly what happens. But with an open mind you can sometimes be pleasantly surprised. 

Your last paragraph is the approach I am taking.  If I find out what weight, flex and length in driver, FW or hybrids, then it will be well worth it.  Would I buy if something totally blows me away, I am not totally opposed to that.

... Haha that's why you always bring your gamers. Direct comparison so an extra 15yds is irrelevant if your gamer is producing the same yardage. It is kinda interesting to experience the different approaches. I showed up with my Sim2 when demoing the Stealth and the Stealth was about 1.1 yds longer and had a slightly tighter dispersion. Fitter said no use changing as the performance was so close. 

... I also tried to talk one of my playing pards into looking at new clubs and I would guide him through the choices because he was playing 💩 Knock Offs that were ill fitting but I could never get him to a golf store. So I booked a free Callaway fitting with me at my summer course. I was hitting drivers and a plethora of shafts while he was fitted for the whole bag. They kept me an extra 1/2 hr but he was actually finished early and left. I talked to him later that day and asked if he wanted to go to a store now and check some options after the fitting and he said no need, he bought everything!  Driver, 5 wood, 3/4 hybrids and Max irons 5-PW, GW and SW. 🤣

... LOL, at least he didn't get a sale (he was kind of a d!ck anyway) and I picked up a new Stealth2 HD with a $350 Ventus Velo Red on eBay for less than the price of the HD with a stock shaft!

... I thought the 116* and 118* for the weekend here was bad but 121* and 120* is just insane. The temps just seem to get exponentially hotter with every additional degree above 115* and 118* is the hottest I have experienced. I went to a Home Depot because I wanted to experience that kind of heat and just walking from the car to the store was crazy intense. I feel absolutely no need to experience 121* 🥵😳

I’m just funnin’, but I’m sure that kinda things does go on to some extent. Anytime sales are involved there is likely a lil fudgin’. Kinda like the trainers at the gym when they do the BF% tests 😉

We’re not quite as hot, but still hot. At least our humidity is dropping. It’s not bad sitting in the shade with a fan blowing. I might even dig the misters out of storage. Nature’s AC.

I just got the Stealth 2 a while back and it's the first club I've bought in a long time that's been a game changer. My Ping G430 is done.

That is interesting. It may be the one course on Earth where my PIA golf ball hawking friends wouldn't stray from the fairway to try and find a twenty year old Top Flite.

I once played The Lodge in Cloudcroft, NM at 9,000’. Got caught in a hailstorm and there was so much hail on the cart path, our cart could barely make it up the hill. Definitely an experience.
