Like driving on ball bearings.  I once lived for 1.5 years in a small town in Colorado at almost 6000 feet.  They had a nice 9 hole golf course... was a real treat playing there with my newfound yardage, thanks to the thin air...

... Gawd I love and hate technology. I just ordered a new MacBook Air as mine is from 2018 and getting s-l-o-w-e-r every day. I am flying to Portland the 23rd - 27th to shoot humana commercials/infomercial so I don't need an old MacBook losing power on my flight. Boomer Alert!  I remember when appliances lasted 30 years or more. Seems today everything is old soon as you buy it. "Welcome to your new Apple computer. We have another model coming out next week!" 🤪

Wolf Creek up in Mesquite, NV is pretty nuts with elevation changes.

Do you get the same director?  Or do you fear the new director?  Old story about William Shatner doing a voiceover with a junior director.  Such a novice with all the clichés.  Couldn't voice direct his way out of a paper bag...

It was HS, they were a local band and the live shows were a blast!

 

I leave all the obvious older “classics” stuff to the rest of the lounge. I was into new wave, punk, alternative stuff in HS.

... That is priceless! Worked with a few of those clueless directors and VO's are the worst. I've been the spokesperson for humana going on 23 years now. I'm really good at what I do but I am also acutely aware of how amazingly lucky I am. They replaced me twice and brought me right back after their sales calls dropped over 40%. 23 yrs of National spots just never happens and as you know 5 years would be very rare. So I have been through 3 different ad agencies and maybe 10-15 different directors over the years.

... That said, since the current agency took over about 12 years ago I have worked with just 2 different directors. My current director for the last 5 years and I are so on the same page he doesn't have to do much because we know what the client likes. Mostly conveying thoughts from the client after we get 2 takes they like but want something a little different, that they usually don't like and stick with the original. I usually don't make any mistakes and out of around 800 takes I might make 2 or 3, so it gives him options for camera moves since he doesn't have to worry about performance. 

... My biggest complaint is the make up and hair that usually touch me up after most every take. Considering over 2 days that might be around 800 takes or more, that's a lot of hair spray and powder. I live as close to a chemical free life as I can and these shoots are just brutal. But as you know that's showbiz and while personally unpleasant I really have no complaints.

... This is the kind of music on the radio when I was young and into my early teen years. Why I love the Beatles so much is pretty obvious as they erased all these saccharine musical atrocities from the radio.

I'm guilty Ti . I will never get used to seeing fancy sweatpants on the course or anywhere else. But, they aren't any worse than the bell bottoms I wore in High School.

... I never pay much attention and go my own way. Sometime with the herd but more often not. My Jr year in high school I was not a member of the Rich Cool Kids club. I saw an article in Playboy feathering the Girls Of The Ivy League but what really caught my attention was the guys with the girls, were wearing brown and tan saddle oxfords and I thought they were just beyond cool. I found a pair, bought them and wore them to school and the Cool Kids had a fit. I brought the pages from Playboy with me but wasn't gonna waste then on these guys.

... And here is the kicker. At that time most of us wore sneakers and white athletic socks with jeans. Brands didn't matter. These rich cool kids wore frayed khaki's cut off about 12" above their shoes so you could see their shiny black socks in their black "Nettletions" a stiff dress shoe with a tassel. No other color pants, socks or shoes and they were only bought at an exclusive Mens Store. Seeing the brand label was essential. What a herd.
