@braincramp52 Put me in the camp as well.  I can get a little squirrelly with my 5i & 6i so I replaced them with a 6h and 7h.  Admittedly, I don’t necessarily feel as precise with them, but my misses are 1000% better with them.

I still hit my 5i regularly to get out of the trees, but I bet I haven’t hit it off the fairway for 4-5 years.  My first iron is essentially the 7i.

I played with a +3 pro a while back and he was chirping ruthlessly.  I won some cash off him (with strokes) and he said he’d never seen a bag of blades to hybrids, much less given them money.

I'm with you Pete. I have one course I play that has big old trees all over the place. I'll throw my 4 iron in the bag when I play that one.

I love Shepard's pie.

Once again we get some great photo's of BSC's out to dinner experience. Good stuff and keep them coming.

All of you photos were excellent BSC. I especially enjoyed the city streets pics.

I hear you on the "just off the boat" Irish girl stuff.

When we opened the NY NY Casino in Vegas the first big show that the Casino had was Micheal Flatley's "Lord of the Dance." Down in the employee cafeteria all the cute Irish dancers would sit together for their dinner before the show. I would on occasion go over and have some conversation with them just to hear their accents. They were something else on stage. I got to on many occasions go back stage and watch some of the performance as back stage to the theater was just out the back door of the restaurant that I worked in.

Ahh,  the memories. 🙂

I remember those, they were huge back then, and those Irish dancer were more total smokeshows than “cute” lol

This is funny, I think RM grew up in Long Island, and still has a house there

Serious question.

Gentlemen please watch this video and give suggestions as to what you feel might help improve this situation.

I know it first starts at home, but what idea/s might you have that this teacher could use in her classroom that would alleviate some of the nonsense this poor woman deals with so frequently?

Do we need to enact some program on a nationwide level in our pubic schools that features far tougher discipline? I was rather disturbed when I came across this video last night.

I am quite curious to hear what the group says of this situation. Thanks in advance for your comments.

I carry 3h-5h, but am getting to where I pull them less and less. They’re so draw biased that I tend to pull them way left. I’ve tried a weaker grip and opening up a little, both of which help, but when I’m only hitting them every 3rd or 4th hole, I find it harder to change my grip and address as much as I need to. But I do love the distance they provide!

I hit a TRS2 5h the other day at 2nd Swing. 24° with a Tensei AV Raw Blue regular shaft. Man, I loved that thing. I thought I had grabbed a 4h and when I discovered it was a 5h, I was amazed at how much farther I hit it than my current 5h. It rivaled my 3H for distance and at the A1 position, wasn’t as draw biased. I’m sure I could tinker with the settings and dial it in even better. But $250+ used is more than I’m willing to spend.

I got fitted for them.  They have hybrids for high cappers that are draw biased and offset but they are coming out with "player" hybrids which is what I am using.  I have the Mavrick with a regular/stiff shaft and we hit all the heads until I got the gapping I wanted, which is why my 7h replaced the 6i, 6h for 5i.

My 7H flies 165'ish, and the 6h flies 180'ish and really help me get out of the rough from distance with less effort and they really elevate which minimizes the runout so I can carry bunkers from those distances which I couldn't do with the irons.  Those had to hit and run out.

There are some areas of concern in regards to the educator getting a little bit riled, but here are a couple of facts.  Education, as a focused discipline has the lowest academic achievement acceptable to gain the necessary training.  The average GPA, last I heard as 3.7 to get accepted into accredited schools of education.  The pay isn't very good.  With the new attacks on education children are being permitted to disrespect teachers.  The continued fall of the middle class, meaning more side jobs and lower levels of transportation, means less kids have available parents to help them along in their early years to make education a priority.  Then factor in the focus on tax cuts and schools are underfunded and overcrowded in our population centers and you have a recipe for disaster.

If kids don't have a connection to the teacher, and the those idiots who are decrying everything as indoctrinating make this much simpler for their kids, and it is only going to get worse.  To blame the kids is a shame.

Jonathan Kozol shows some of the issues in "Savage Inequalities."  E.D. Hirsch "Cultural Literacy" touches on how to reach all kids.  Paolo Freire's "Pedagogy of the Oppressed" discusses the limitations of accepted pedagogy and how to make it a more participatory and enriching experience.  And then there are so many other influential eductation books including experiential learning and the knowledge of how kids learn and how to connect with your students (and some just have it, some don't), and put these educators in this pool.  The educators whom were probably academically average in an era of inflated grades, which tells me they don't really value their own education since anyone who even tries gets a B, and you have a recipe for disaster.

There is so much wrong with the educational system, but (as I mentioned earlier) this ignorant attack on it and the refusal to help means it is the best it will ever be going forward... unless we get smart and value our educations like they do in Scandinavia and many Asian countries... but we won't because in America we worship money.  By hook or by crook, it doesn't matter, the most important part of being an American is being rich.

I realize this is a rant, so it isn't totally well versed, but you get the gist.  The teacher is to blame, the parents, society, and now politics.  It's stupid, and a shame.

I was also struggling to come up with a response that was anything but a rant. My daughter was a special ed teacher, which has its own unique set of issues. She loved the kids and had a much different perspective than the teacher in the video, but the environment became so confrontational, especially once the pandemic hit, she got to where she couldn’t take it any longer. She moved from a low income school, where parent involvement was nonexistent, to a high income school, where parents attended conferences with their attorneys, or just sent the attorneys. She now teaches English over in South Korea and loves it. But it’s more than the schools, it’s the overall culture. The polarization we have here doesn’t exist over there. People aren’t looking to attack at the first sign of disagreement. So while the video is focused on education, the culture wars we’ve devolved into permeate everything these days, IMO. I wish there was an easy solution or even a hard one.

Special Ed. was way too much for me.  Those folks deserve a special place in heaven.  Couple that with the new focus on mainlining these kids (which I tend to agree with), you can't take a person who has a learning disability and teach them slower and expect them to catch up, but it creates a whole different set of problems for the SpEd teachers.  Throw in the IEP's and each one has its specifics so they (the teachers) have to be on the constant defensive.  You daughter should be lauded for her work.

We’ve had a couple of spectacular days here, weather wise. Well, a high of 95° probably doesn’t qualify as spectacular, but since our highs have been 105°+ for what seems like forever, it feels great! The real difference is in the morning. Our overnight low temp has been above 80° since early July. We’ve been in the 60s overnight the past couple of nights. Morning coffee out by the pool is a real treat!

Sadly, it will be short-lived. Tomorrow’s high is forecast at 108° and 109° on Friday. 🥵

You gotta play what you can hit. Back in the day I was sort of an oddity. Playing Blade Macgregor irons and a Ping 1 iron. I carried a little (persimmon) Spalding 4 1/2 wood and a Northwestern 6 wood. Even up to when I had my accident I was hitting blade irons and carrying the 7&9 woods. Right now with the TMs I can still hit the 5 and 6 irons with no effort. Even if I get to the stage where I can not hit a 5 iron out of the fairway I will still carry one because I bump and run with it. The 7 &9 woods I hit when I need extra elevation and a little more carry. I never got along with hybrids even though I bought a little Cobra 29* the other day because the price was right and it had a senior flex shaft in it. I have hit it some and at this stage it hits a little high for me and I still hit the 6 iron good. For $15 I felt it was a good investment for the "future" for me. It is in the front room in the reserve category. I do not give 2 hoots what anyone says about my equipment set up and could care less about "proper gaps" and stuff like that. Recently I did 2 changes. I pulled the 50* Cally out not because I can not hit it well but I do not need it. My wedge gaps are not considered "proper" at all going from 46* to 56* and then 58*. I always manipulated my wedges anyhow and I can loft up the 46* if need be. Yes the 56 and 58 are only 2* apart but they have different bounces for different situations. I also ditched my beloved Rusty Scotty and the Macgregor blade for my old trusty Ping B90-I broom stick. I used to putt with it well 15 years ago. I had discovered recently that I do have nerve issues and my hands are too shaky on short putts. In the last 2 weeks I have knocked 3 to 4 strokes off a round with it. So for now it is staying.

In my league we have several players playing mostly hybrid sets. One of the older guys wins most of the closest to the pin contests plays all hybrids with the exception of the driver , SW and putter. Our youngest member is only 50 YOA and is a retired Pro Football player with injuries. He has only been playing 2 years. He switched to a set of those Lazarus Hybrids you see on some of the feeds. Since putting those in his bag he has dropped from a 25 handicap to a 20 in like 2 months.

One has to play what they can hit consistently no matter the combo.

I can tell you yesterday was the hottest i could remember here. We had a 117 heat index. Actually one of our guys passed out on like #12. They did send him to the hospital and he is home and ok. Our course we are encouraged to carry coolers because we have no beverage cart and no water on the course. I bought me a larger cooler and have it rigged with bandolier clips to fasten to the basket and sit on the fender. It holds 8 bottles of water. I carry 6 and 2 Pedialyte mixes plus 2 damp hand sized towels wrapped around blue ice packs. I also have a battery operated fan that I can run off of USB on the cart if need be. Still yesterday it was hot hot. Today I played and we have a cold front moving in and we got showers last night. It was still like a heat index of 90 or so but pleasantly so compared to the last few weeks. Tomorrow is supposed to be cool too. Friday I will not play because they have the annual big time Ladies Invitational so for the rest of us the course is closed. The temps are supposed to be back up for the Shootout on Saturday. Had one of the guys call yesterday and we put back 3 of us on the original Power team. The other guy is this kid who just qualified for a USGA event at Pinehurst #6 shooting 66 64. We had him on the team 2 weeks ago and were -8 after 9 holes when the bottom fell out from rain. They cancelled the event and gave everyone lunch and 10 extra tickets for the prize drawing. I did win a towel which I added to the collection which was handy since I soak down like 3 a round

Got a big chuckle out of that one. Was going to ask if it was ok if I used it. Then I remembered I do not do weddings or funerals unless I am asked and up top in the sound booth. LOL in the Church I am in now I have been there 5 years. I had to look in my Church Notebook to find this fact. I have done 8 funerals and did not know a single one of the folks who passed away. Have done 5 weddings and did not know the bride or groom and have not seen them darken the doors of that Church since being hitched. My SOP at those things is to wait and shut down after the Battan death march or the bridal march and slip out the side door. I am usually outgoing but for some reason I tend not to hob nob with people at those events

Interesting. I played golf with two teachers yesterday, they start back on the 29th of this month. Jokingly I asked them if they had a list of their students and they said "Yes" . I then asked if there were any troublemakers on that list, and they said "Yes" . And it is a Christian school they teach at.

So with regard to Touch's video I would suggest that on the opening day of class, and I'm assuming kids want to be in band, is that a zero tolerance policy be laid down. No use of the hands on any other student or person, no destruction of property, as a prank or otherwise. If you do it you are out immediately.  No second chances.

Look at the offset on some and you can see why they are draw biased. Old Adams like the A-4 or A-4 OS or even the PNT or "peanut" models do not have a lot of offset. Some of the older Callaway like the X1-R do not have a lot of offset. On those I mentioned with little offset you can cure the draw bias by putting like 2 grams of lead tape in the toe. As for me I hit the 7&9 woods better and have more confidence in them so that is what I hit

Wow - I need to find deals like that. Even eBay prices are really high, at least for the clubs I've looked at.

It was in the barrel at a local club shop I do business with. Yeah I snatched it up fast. I figured 5 or 6 years up the road I may need it

On a serious note. No way I’m coming close after 1 cup of coffee. But it’s not a school issue, it’s a societal issue. As u touched on, it starts at home and mix in the internet/social media… 🤷🏼‍♂️ It’s a helluva question.
