NEW Monte Power Shift Video - Wow!

I’m definitely going to get this. I’m always too lateral and haven’t figured out how to do the vertical push without early extending. I have some good jumping power (for a golfer at least) but I feel like my legs aren’t contributing enough to my swing speed.

Another aspect I like is there are just so many "reminders" that really help you from going too far.  For example, if you've been on a pressure mat then you know it doesn't take much to get pressure into the right; just getting the clubhead outside your trail foot without any "sliding" starts putting enough pressure.  It just helps tick the box so you don't have to go down some rabbit hole searching for how much pressure, just keep turning.

True. Stand with one foot on a scale and see how easily weight shifts. Pressure shifts are often not big movements. Sometimes they’re fast, though.

I struggle with the concept of using the ground and sequencing through transition in terms of "getting it".  I remember watching a seemingly endless presentation by Pete Cowen about it and my head spinning at some point, which is on me not him. Not necessarily from a swing point of view, but for me, just conceptually.  Watched the whole thing through last night and so much of it resonates and cuts through a lot of the blah, blah devoted to those topics (not saying all the blah, blah is wrong, but for example, as good as the AMG guys are, I just can't get through most of their discussions - the diagrams of all sorts just don't reach me many times).  So for some cut through the noise and visual understanding, this is really, really good. And I see things I can do that will actually help my swing.  Fundamental info, well presented.  Do not have a drink every time Monte says "very important" if you want to make it to the end! 😀

So what did I learn?

Rotate my front hip on the backswing and trail hip on the downswing

Get all my pressure back and leave it there

Fire those hips hard and let the arms catch up.

Am I missing anything?

This goes along great with holding the lag

In all seriousness I've always had trouble with the idea of early shift and re-entering so I'll try some of these drills at the range today. Highly recommend checking this one out.

My fault is that I get to the top of my backswing and immediately want to hit the ball, so I use all arms and come over the top. No or very little hips. And I a have watched other youtube videos, but really can't grasp using the ground to better turn your hips.

Will this teach me to better use my hips and not be so arm'sy ? Or is there a better lesson/video for that ?

Thanks !!

No idea whether it will resonate with you, but if your swing is as you describe and you are looking to sync up your movements, including arms and hips where they fall in sequence, this would be a pretty safe gamble and I'd bet you represent a large group of similar golfers who would benefit.

I'm 90% likely to buy this video whatever but I'm currently working on getting less steep in the downswing. Does making the correct pressure shift go any towards helping shallow the club or is this basically about getting more consistent strike and more speed with an already functional downswing?

Monte,

I like the drills in the video short, and well explained. On the heel toe heel

drill is it ok to lift right toes a little to help first move to right heel.

Yes

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

Just bought my copy, looking forward to digging into this concept!

As I continue to go down the Monte rabbit hole, I've noticed that when I am getting the pressure shift correct my speed can jump maybe 3-5 mph & I have to imagine it's just all proper sequencing, b/c I don't necessarily feel as if I'm swinging very hard.

Long live your golf brain, Monte! Thank you for all the time & effort you put into this series

Shoveled my mat outside here in Midwest today and spent three hours working on the drills and proper backswing. Real eye opener, loving this.  Was literally laughing out loud how much I was enjoying the results.  Early in the process but so excited. NIce to have a road map and true understanding of how and why.

Chicken and egg. It’s not or this or that, you need both

Correct.   Not pivot driven swing, not arm driven swing produces speed and proper strike.  Proper SEQUENCING.

Perfect, i am a big fan of the NTC and BF... helped so much.

A proper weight/pressure shift is currently on my agenda.

So pure and clear information for the price of one "Wiener Schnitzel" 😉

Thanks Monte.

Starving and digging for hours only to find inedible plastic, Prancer and Blitzen wandered away and were never seen again.  No apparent connection has been found between their disappearance and the news that holiday venison brats are planned for the Iowa vs. Northwestern game at Wrigley next fall.
