PXG Gen3t vs 4t vs 5t? need new irons

Looking to get a set. Are there big differences from each generation. I tried the Gen3 T a while back and loved them, but that was about a year or 2 now. 

 

And coming from Srixon 785 and x7's, are the 5-6 irons as forgiving (more or less forgiving?). Debating on the P irons for my 5-6 

 

I'm sure this has been talked about a ton, but love any perspective on the biggest differences or pro's for one generation to the next in the "T"

I’ve owned the Gen 3 & 4 0311T. The 4 is easier to swing weight and looks better to my eye, but I really loved the 3. There was just something about them that I can’t explain. 
 

A friend has the Gen 5 and they are really good. I’d probably get the Gen 5 in your shoes since they’re on sale with the Gen 6 being out. 
 

The 5 and 6 irons are plenty forgiving in the T line. I wouldn’t worry about a combo set.

If you can, I would try them out. If not, kind of depends on the user. Got fit for Gen4T when Gen 5 came out. Gen 3 was nice but Gen 4 was better (better look and feel, and little better performance). Didn’t see enough out of Gen 5 to pay the upcharge so I went Gen 4. Don’t think there is a “wrong” answer.. but the Gen 3 had a cult following.

Gen 5 T are the best to me. I thought they improved the sole so it is not as grabby. Looks the best to my eye. Feels really good. Very nice golf club.

 

I could not see getting the CBs over the T from a forgiveness standpoint. Both Gen 4 and Gen 5 are easy to dial in swing weight.

Can't speak to the 3s, but I own a set of gen5 Ts, have hit the 4s at the original PXG fitting. To me, 4s were a little softer, but only marginally so. I personally think the gen4s are better looking, but for me (your mileage may vary) I had such better dispersion with the gen5s, so much so I learned to live with the looks pretty quick. 

 

Never owned your Srixons, but have hit them. I would say the gen5 Ts are more user friendly. I switched from a set of MP 20 MMCs, and the PXGs are noticeably more forgiving. for a "tour" iron , I'm surprised what I'm able to get away with. Regarding P vs T, I didn't notice a great deal of difference in forgiveness around the 5,6 iron. I did however notice a difference in spin rate and distance. Before you combo, I'd give the Ts in the higher irons a chance. I have a P a 4, but not necessarily for the forgiveness, it's more a gapping issue.    

 

I get the logic, but it's s shame PXG went away form the Ts in the gen6.

Have all 3, played the Gen3 for last 3 years until I recently picked up a set of Gen5. Gen5 really good! Gen4 performs well but just too soft for my liking. Gen5 feels much more like the Gen3, just a tad softer. Gen4 & Gen5 seem to be a tad more forgiving than Gen3. IMO, if you're playing the T you're probably a pretty good ball striker, so going with any of the generations isn't going to be a bad decision. Just comes down to how much you want to spend.

Have had Gen3 for a couple of years and Gen5 more recently. You’re coming from Srixon like I did, so the Gen3 will probably suit your eye better at address. It’s a smaller, sharper/boxier profile, whereas Gen5 is a little bigger and rounder. In play, I really can’t tell much difference in terms of feel or forgiveness. Performance is very similar. Gen5 might be a little more forgiving up around 5,6 iron, but I’ve only had them for a short while so can’t be sure. 
 

Very good chance I stick with the Gen3 and sell the Gen5 to be honest. I prefer the look at address and with everything else feeling so equal, why change?
 

The only real advantage to my mind is the swingweighting being a lot easier with Gen5. Super easy to experiment with different weights from Amazon. So if you like to play around with different shafts and suchlike, then go Gen5 in a heartbeat.

Had the Gen 3’s for a short amount of time and loved the heads!  Just a bad shaft fit.  I ended up moving them pretty quick and stuck with zx7’s.

 

Gen 5’s look really nice to my eye.  Never gamed them but hit them a few times.  Thought they felt very similar to Gen 3 but with a little more refined look in the design.  Very smooth through the turf.  Never hit Gen 4.
