Ireland Pubs

Hey all,

 

Headed to Ireland next year with the wife and sister in law. Looking for some recommendations of pubs around the areas we will be playing in. These include:

 

Ballybunion or Tralee - Staying in Bally

Lahinch - Staying at Lahinch Coast

Narin & Portnoo - Staying in Donegal Mill Park Hotel

Rosapenna - Staying in Commings Bay Hotel 

Royal Portrush - Staying in Portrush

RCD - Staying in Down 

 

Specifically those around Narin and Rosapenna as I will be playing those courses solo while they venture out. Any other recommendations for restaurants would be welcomed too!

I can only speak for Ballybunion. There's not much there and you can easily hop around. We were there on a Sunday night in September and the town seemd a bit quiet with the exception of a few locals sitting outside of a couple bars having a smoke. We were hungry so made our way to McMunns Bar. That must be THE place to be because the bar was packed and the live music was in full throttle. In spite of it being called a bar there is a separate restaurant. Food was ok. Better than your standard Irish pub for sure but you also pay a price for it relatively speaking. I expected to see more golfing tourist types like us, but from what I could tell it was nearly all Irish.

There’s not much in Narin or Portnoo besides the golf course. However, Adare (about a 15min drive) is a great little Irish village with great pubs and restaurants.  
Ballybunion or Tralee - Staying in Bally.      Teach De Broc across from the course is good, The Exchange, Feale, and Railway Bar are all good options.

Lahinch - Staying at Lahinch Coast.   Paddy at The 19th is the BEST! Slattrey’s, and Flanagan’s are options as well.

Narin & Portnoo - Staying in Donegal Mill Park Hotel  Not much in the area. Ardara will have much better options

Rosapenna - Staying in Commings Bay Hotel Goose & Gander as well as Harbour in Downings are good.

Royal Portrush - Staying in Portrush   Harbour Gin Bar and The Station are both good

RCD - Staying in Down   Never stayed there

We had a wonderful meal after golf at Lahinch overlooking the golf course in the clubhouse.  Excellent.

The after round meals at Lahinch and Enniscrone were some of my favorite the week we were there.

In the Lahinch area I had a meal at Vaughan's Anchor Inn that was very good. It was a few minutes past the course on the way to the cliffs.
