One extra was due to drinking and eBaying and another was impulse right before I got married. Now I don’t know if I should sell the ones I like less or just hold onto them since I still like them I just won’t use them as much. It’s a curse.

Man, this has happened more than I care to admit.

I had my bag stolen about 5 years ago. I've still not found a true replacement putter for that Rife Barbados, and it had been in the bag about 8 years. I have a Tri Hot 5K 7CH incoming. Also interested in the LA Golf Malibu. Plus I have a Ping Mundy, and a TM Ghost Manta being refinished. Various others have come and gone while searching.

Essentially I only have 4 putters at my disposal at present.  These are 2 Byron Morgan putters, a TP Mills and a Cleveland Classic blade.  My gamer is the Byron Morgan Epic Day (Ping Zing style with long flow neck).  This putter style seems to be best suited for my stroke and has been for decades.  The weighting, by design, allows me to release the toe through impact without any manipulation of my hands.  If there is a perfect design for each golfer the Ping Zing style might just be the one for me.  My backup gamer is my Byron Morgan DH89.  This one is also in a long flow neck style and the Ping Anser style works pretty well for me with the toe and heel weighting.  Both of these are not going anywhere any time soon in light that Byron is no longer with us and he was a personal friend of mine.  My TP Mills putter is one of the first Heritage putters David made.  I was in his shop in early 2008 and saw the prototype on his bench and we talked about it.  I ordered one. This putter is a classic styled TP Mills styled blade and was my gamer from 2008 for a couple years.  My putting stroke and technique was poor at the time and I could not make this one work.  This one is not my gamer due to the performance of the Epic Day but now that my stroke is much better this one would probably perform well.  My last putter is a Cleveland Classic Designed by BeCu blade (Wilson Designed by Arnold Palmer/8802 style).  This one is pure nostalgia.  I sourced a pristine early 1960s Head Speed shaft (with most of the label in tact) and installed it.  This one serves two purposes.  First, nostalgia and second, to hone my stroke when it all goes south.  This putter style is not forgiving and only works with a smooth and proper stroke.  So in a sense this putter is a training aid for me.

Each putter in my arsenal is some sort of blade.  I have tried mallet styled putters and they simply don't work for my stroke.  I have a slight to moderate gate stroke and my personal experimentation of mallets indicate that a straight back-straight through stroke works best with these.  Of course there are versions of a mallet style that seem to be suited to a gate stoke these days but these just are not for me.  My Epic Day has been my primary gamer since September 2014 and will not leave my bag any time soon.  I did game the DH89 in for most of the golf season in 2021 but went back to the Epic Day at the end of the season.  I suppose I could sell the TP Mills putter but this one has some sentiment due to it being one of the very first of this model made and that David used the name I suggested to give this prototype a name, at his request.  The Cleveland Designed By BeCu will stay due to training purposes and rarity.

I could get rid of all my putters but the face balanced ones and live a full and happy life but something tells me someday I will be able to putt all of them. My ego lies a lot.

I think that I could make any putter work but for me, green seed/control is the best reason.

Slow or wet greens a Stainless Steel because it just of the face and for less maintance

Fast and dry a Carbon steel or heavy putter because it fells better in the hand

Why is have over 20 putters was covered above LOL

I tell myself that every once in a while a backup turns into Tom Brady so it would be irresponsible of me to not at least get a backup some quality reps. That, plus drunk buying, and knowingly scratching the club ho itch when you know you shouldn't be messing with any of your full swing clubs at the moment.
