A Modern Retro Bag

I'm building a modern retro set. Thinking back to when I started playing I had Dunlop, Spalding, Browning, Intech, Northwestern, Knight, etc. in my bag. Not the best! But I've been inspired to build a bag with brands I used to game or wish I could have afforded in high school. Or just brands that I remember seeing on TV. Here is what I have so far (I'm a minimalist dude, 8 clubs max):

Driver:           Taylormade Brnr Mini

5 W/3 Hy:     ---

Irons:            Lynx Prowler VT

Wedge:         ---

Putter:          Slazenger Beryllium Refinished

Ball:              Spalding SD Tour

I need some advice for the wood/hybrid and wedge slots. Looking for brands that have died and come back or throwback versions of old clubs. The putter is truly vintage but being refinished it doesn't look old really. Thinking 80s-early 2000s brands/models. Some options I'm considering:

MacGregor - their new stuff looks impressive. Will probably fill either of the open slots with Mac.

Snake Eyes - new wedges seem to get decent reviews.

Ram - seems mostly cheapo.

Orlimar - maybe refinish a TriMetal?

Rawlings - I have a Rawlings wedge. It's not bad, but open to thoughts.

I'm open to a modern big 5 brand if they have sort of a retro feel like the BRNR.

Any brands/models I should think about? Hard to remember all the brands from those days.

Played a MacGregor MacTec 2 fairway for a long time…if the current heads are still the same quality, that would be a solid pick for that slot.  Couple that with something like a Proforce V2 shaft, and your “retro” club will pretty much rival anything out there today.

Titleist TSR3, w/Mitsubishi Tensei AV Blue with Xlink Tech 65
Titleist 915Fd, w/Aldila Rogue Black 80-2.8-S

Filling your hybrid spot would be pretty easy with something from Adams or Nickent.  Sonartec fairway woods got a lot of love back in the day.

Take a good look at new MacGregor web site. For irons, your best bet might be to buy the heads only, and shaft and grip as you see fit. The "customization" options really aren't very flexible (only shafts are KBS Tour and Recoil 600 family).

If I got some heads, I would buy some taper-tip Recoil shafts and shim them up for the parallel hosels.

My Tight Lies 3 wood was freaking awesome! I had the 2nd generation of Tight Lies, but the 5-Wood that's sitting downstairs getting NO love is with the patent stamping the original clubs had and I believe that places it as a '96/'97 manufacture. I am thinking of bringing it to the range today for fun just to see how well it still strikes.

That club was my go-to until the hybrids took its place!

Cart Bag: Sun Mountain C-130 Inferno (Orange) Carry Bag: Sun Mountain 4.5 LS (Red & Port)

The Sledge Hammer: PXG 0311 Black Ops Tour-1 @ 6.5° - PX Gen 4 Hzrdus Black 80/TX

The Dead Blow: PXG 0311 Gen 5 @ 11.5° - PX Even Flow Riptide 80/6.5TX

The Chaser: PXG 0311 Gen 5 @ 15.5° - Dynamic Gold 105 X100

The Grinders PXG 0317ST (CB 3-4 / ST 5-PW) - DG X-Seven

The Chisels- Tom Watson 56° - 60° - DG - S-Flex (Probably Should at Least Reshaft them)

The Mallet: PXG BR-1 Raptor Putter

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
