Junior Hybrid options?

I am in a weird spot, trying to bridge 10yo daughter from Flynn clubs to what will most likely be adult irons in the next 6 months. She is actually ripping her Flynn irons, but the hybrid (which used to be a good fit) has turned into a hook machine. She hits high soft draws w everything else. Any thoughts on a junior hybrid that might work a bit better? For reference, she is playing TM Stealth 2 driver and Callaway Epic Star 7 wood on Flynn shafts...which both work great.

Should we just start testing some ladies hybrids? Ping ProdiG? The Flynn hybrid is basically un-hittable at this stage - she has dropped 4 shots in last 2 rounds and each one was a hooked hybrid.

Any thoughts to bridge this gap period?

If she likes the 7 wood then might be worth looking into a 9 wood instead of a hybrid

yes, started w the 7 wood as I think the girls need more loft to get the ball up. I like that idea of trying to add a 5w and/or 9W... almost tempted to get her a 5i instead of Hy as she hits her 6i pretty well...

Ping ProdiG hybrid was by far the most reliable club my son (now 12) has ever hit....played it around 9 -10 YO I think.     If she hasn't outgrown the loft , may be worth a shot.  That being said, every other hybrid he has ever tried is a hook machine....which seems to be a common refrain from better players about hybrids.  He has been dealing with a gap for far too long between his 5 iron and 7 wood (which he loves)....I've started researching 9 woods as well....maybe a 4 iron.

Why hybrid is a hook machine for better players? Just curious.

+1 for Ping ProdiG hybrid.

Usually it is the offset of some hybrids being more. Better players tend not to have trouble getting the face square. With the extra offset of some hybrids (and GI/SGI irons for that matter) the face gets far too closed at impact. And left she goes.

My son (59" 95 lbs when he switched) went from Ping Prodi G LE in both his fairway and hybrid, and that transition has been a smooth one.  We tried Flynn and even TSi1, in respective club order, and neither move completely took.  The G LE 2 has been a great bridge club for him, and it is easy to see why if you look at the similar shape Prodi g vs. G LE.  The ULT 230 Shafts are very light, and also a good progression from the junior model.

My 12 yr old son who is smaller nature has Titliest Driver and 18 degree FW wood.  However, the stealth 2 (25degree or 26 Hybrid can't remember) has been really good for him.  He tested Ping, Titleist, etc.. but liked the TM Hybrid better.  As always everyone is different but might look at it!  TM isn't the only company that can do this, but customization and their customer service was good for us.

Thx for feedback everyone. I ended up picking up a used Callaway Epic Max Star 5w and 9w to bookend her current fairway wood (7w) and we will see if the 9w can replace the Flynn hybrid. Threw some Flynn shafts in the woods and off to test after school today!

Nothing like putting new clubs in the bag 2 days before Tour Championship! What could go wrong?

I may be too late to the party here, but a fix (for me) is to put a larger grip on a hybrid.  I hooked the crap out of every hybrid I tried for years...then put on a Midsize MCC +4 and *poof* hooks are gone.

So...before you throw the hybrid in the trash, try a Standard sized MCC +4.

My 2 cents...

I agree but for junior hands that might be just going to a standard size or adding a couple layers of tape.

There's definitely something more important that I should be doing.
