Ping G425 3 hybrid - seeking an alternative shaft

My hybrid came with a stock Alta CB 70 Slate shaft, which I am not a fan of. Can't tell if it's due to the counter balanced nature of the shaft but it feels numb and somewhat heavier than I would expect.

The G425 is the only club in my bag that has a CB shaft and it's the only one that feels this numb. 

Any suggestions on aftermarket shafts? Or should I get another hybrid?

what profile shafts do you normally prefer? 

 

I didn't love the G425 hybrid until I got the right shaft in it for me. Currently in a Evenflow Black Riptide 80g Hybrid "Small Batch" shaft and it has transformed this club for me.

I have a 425 4hy and 3hy. Have the ping tour 85s in both. Feels great in the 4, have troubles at times launching it with the 3. Driver swing speed is 105-109. In the same position as you, searching for the right shaft.

I have a G425 3/19* Hybrid with a Tour AD Di-85S HYB shaft, really like the mid-launch ball flight of this shaft, my avg distance is 225-230 yds, it bounces once or twice & normally sits unless the fairways or greens are dried out.

 

I re-gripped a G425 Ping CB Driver shaft & this is what I found they used in mine a 8 gram plug, took it out to increase my s/w. Not 100% sure if this is what you will find in the butt of your hybrid shaft, perhaps something similar.

I have the 4 hybrid, I started with an AD DI shaft but switched to an Aldila Rogue Black. Aldila always have a decent feel and it’s a stock option so it should be possible to pick one up second hand.

Aldila Tour Blue hybrid shaft. I like the 80g. Stable and smooth. Not expensive. Lots of wrxers can vouch for it in hybrids.

I would definitely recommend trying a non counter balanced shaft. There are several really good reasonably priced options. Mitsubishi Tensei Blue, Kuro Kage, C6 or Fujikura Vista Pro, Aldila NV/NVS, or UST Pro Force V2 are all good options under $45.

I use the Tensei Orange that is a stock option.  I bet the pro at your club would let you swap it out at no charge for another shaft in a demo hybrid.  Mine will.   The Alta is simple too high spin and launch for many players.  The Ping rep just wants a shaft back when the next demos come out.  Don't think they care which one.

If you like the counterbalance feeling the Tensei Orange is a fantastic option.
it was stock option at the 425er series but this came to an end, the Tensei is not longer a stock option. 

 

if you prefer a heavier swing weight try out a Tensei blue that is friendly enough for a wide range of golfers and will not cost not a ton.
My preferred hybrid shaft is the Fujikura Atmos blue TS in the white version, that was stock option at Titleist 818 series.
