GBP is the local currency. Always handy to have a few on hand.

that fee is ridiculous. You will; get a better conversion out of ATMs here, travel money company in airports etc.

 

But yes no one wants US dollars here...

Definitely tip in pounds. US dollars over there are as useful as Scottish pounds in the States. We used the ATMs in Scotland.

 

If you have AAA they can convert for you at a minimum fee but you have to order the cash in advance by at least a few weeks. I do that just to have a few pounds in my pocket before getting to an ATM

debating between the FootJoy and pro quip just not sure I can get the pro quip in time.

@sheppick.dan I have a Cross jacket and Galvin Green pants, but can’t say much after just one round in the rain. Jacket held up ok, didn’t wear the pants. When I used the pants a week before my trip, it was great and much more repellent than the Cross jacket.

I own Galvin Green gear; never bought it brand new, I just get my dad's older gear as he buys every 3 or 4 years for no reason! my wife wears the pants more than I have on baby walks.

 

Honestly what I would do if I was doing your trip - not buy, buy if needed from a golf club and you get a badge on them. RAGC sell Kjus stuff and it is not cheap but awesome. I have used rain gear one time this year and it was not a fun round of golf, cold heavy rain and wind only kept playing as my guest was playing amazing.

 

I have a very nice Kjus Gillet that is water resistant and windproof and adds good warmth and it is kept in my bag and I have used that a few times this year. I walk 99% of my rounds carrying but if there is rain forecast and I have to play I will use my electric trolley with rain gear and Umbrella in my bag. 

 

It has now not been any rain for 12 days, finally some forecasted for Wednesday night and all day Thursday. I think it was one for the wettest winters ever and the last 4 weeks it's been dry and lovely! https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/gfnt07u1s#?date=2024-05-21

Not that you specifically asked me, but I went with ProQuip.  In Arizona and I ordered on a Monday afternoon and had it in hand by 10:30 Thursday.  Went right out and used it in one of our two big rains a year and was dry as a bone.

I went with the Aqualite.  The response directly from Proquip:

 

The Aqualite rain jacket and trousers would be a good option because they’re fairly lightweight.
If the weather is warm and wet they’ll keep you dry and not too hot.
If it’s cold and wet you can wear layers under them. 

The Ultimate HTX is a great jacket but would be too warm for the summer.

 

I usually wear 34/30 and went with Large and 29" since the website said the length is 1" longer.  While not too short, I would probably have gone the 30".  As for the top, I went Large.  It is not too tight, but think if I went to an XL it would be too baggy.

Yes PX7. I just used their fitting guide and it was perfect.

Just got back Sunday from our trip.  Only 3 holes where it was needed but it was definitely needed for them.   I have Zero Restriction and it is great.

enxed up with the proquip. I’m nervous a little because the measurements said I needed bigger than what I am currently wearing. So I’m hopeful they don’t run small. 
 

I will update when I get the gear in!

Laura at Carnoustie is AWESOME! She was able to get my dad on as a single for our trip. We are still on cancellation list for a 2-some but we both will be playing. I tee off at 9:10 and dad at 2:40 so we should very easily be able to walk the second 18 together!
