AI One vs Tri Hot 5k

Looking at the double wides in particular, the 5k is noticeably more expensive. Is that line considered a more premium putter line than the new release? What about compared to the AI One milled?

Ai One is essentially the same putter but with the tech primarily in the face. The 5K line is concerned more with higher MOI.

A lot can in all honesty. The new line is nice. I almost got one and I’m still on the fence with a 7S. It rolls really nice and tracks its line well. I’m in between going to that or a LAB.

5k achieved better front back dispersion via tungsten and moi, ai-one supposedly gets better dispersion just via face for cheaper price, my pick would be ai-one

 

edit: I have both and 5k is also very very forgiving

I feel like this is typical Odyssey. Have 2 separate models like AI One and TriHot5K one year, and then combine the tech as a new release a year later. Would not be surprised to see the AI-one 5K next year. The planned obsolescence is annoying in the golf industry.

Better than releasing the same Anser knockoff every year with zero tech in it.  I'm excited to see these companies innovating in the putter world.

It’s ok, Odyssey is making an Anser 2 knock off as well. 🤣 At least they admitted OG was Original Gangsta for cool points. Everyone seems to be amazingly awesome with all the new tech. People need to catch on and start dumping those old putters that don’t work.

Finally got a chance to roll the AI today. Nothing groundbreaking to me and just confirmed I don’t mesh with inserts. 
 

on the other hand, the mizuno OMOI 2 was phenomenal. Ordered a Betti BB1W that should be here any day but may also get that too cuz why not

Not sure if you can legitimately call any putter aside from maybe an 8882 style blade “obsolete”.

Bumping this thread.

 

Rolled the AI-One in stores and really enjoyed it (Rossie DB specifically). The corresponding model in the Tri-Hot 5K series can be had from CPO for ~$100 cheaper but wasn't available to demo at the store I was at. Any performance comparisons (doesn't have to be Rossie model) between the Tri-Hot and AI-One that would justify paying or not paying the extra few bucks? I appreciate it!

Honestly they are both wrestling for a spot in my bag.  I gamed my 5K last year; and so far enjoy my JB Mini; but only been able to roll them in my basement so far.

@Hougz79 thank you for sharing that, I know you’ve got two different models and it may be hard to decipher too much indoors but do you notice much difference between the feel of the inserts?
 

As an aside, I rolled the JB myself over the weekend and it felt really well-balanced in terms of my preferences.

As an aside, I rolled the JB myself over the weekend and it felt really well-balanced in terms of my preferences. 

To me, the Tri Hot 5K feels softer.  I am not sure if it’s due to the AI inset backplate and all steel Strokelab shaft compared to the graphite Strokelab shaft on the 5K.

Great feedback, thank you. I just ordered a Tri Hot 5k Rossie DB and will keep my eye out for the equivalent Ai One model in the classifieds.

I tried both 5k and Ai face, and the Ai face putter felt better 🤷‍♂️

You could really be onto something here. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re already concocting an AI-One 5K line for 2025 at Callaway HQ 😅
