Cleveland Launcher Max irons

Has anybody heard anything on the Cleveland Launcher Max irons.  I am intrigued by them.  I definitely fit into the category of needing a game improvement iron based on not catching center face on a consistent basis, but I always play players irons because my game does better with more loft.  These seem to fit in the best of both worlds as they are a weaker lofted game improvement iron.  The only issue is that I cannot find any reviews on them, and they are not in any stores yet.

 

It basically looks like it is Cleveland's answer to the Mizuno JPX 923 Hot Metal HL irons.  I would love if most of the manufacturers would go this route.  I noticed that some do, but even their so called weak lofted game improvement irons are still pretty strong.  These new Clevelands and the previous mentions JPX 923 Hot Metal HL irons are the only ones I see with decently weaker lofts.

Callaway has a HL in their new line as well. At the price point of the Cleveland, I’m surprised there’s no more buzz about them. Not a bad looking iron at all in its category.

Given that Cleveland is a Srixon subsidiary, I think the comparisons to Mizuno are pretty apt. 

I have not hit any of the irons - but have been very pleased with the Cleveland drivers I've played for the past four years. 

 

Srixon is making some very good equipment under the Cleveland name - just not marketing it well in North America.

Yeah, I saw that Callaway had an HL offering but their HL offering is still a club stronger if not more degrees wise than the Mizuno or this new Cleveland irons.

They look almost identical to the old CG16 irons.  I do not believe there is any new or exciting tech here, and they seem like price point irons.  If you are looking at new and shiny for Cleveland, take a look at the Launcher XL Zipcore irons.

I like the Max beings they’re more “standard?” lofts and the shaft is not overly long like most in this category either. Plus the shaft I prefer and that works for me is a no up charge.

Honestly, the new Cleveland Launcher XL Zipcore irons are to loft jacked for me.  It is the reason that I have to play players irons.  I deloft the iron a lot naturally, so I have to play very weak lofts.  I do well currently with my Ping I210 irons but am always on the lookout for GI irons with weaker lofts as that is more where I should sit.  I have played GI irons with the strong lofts and they do not agree with me.  I, actually, hit my 33 degree Ping I210 7 irons 20 yards further than my old 27.5 degree Cobra Radspeed 7 irons.  I need the loft and spin to get the ball airborne.  I210 carries about 160 where my old Radspeed topped out around 140.

 

I'm not too worried about the technology standpoint.  Any GI is generally gonna have a little more forgiveness than my I210s although I will say they are some amazing irons.

I agree with you.  Plus, I checked their shaft matrix and they have my shaft at no upcharge which makes them that much more intriguing, too.

I just picked up a set 5-G. The drawback on the XL Zipcore for me is that leading edge. Gave me fits on multiple Srixon sets. I got the Max with KBS 85 R.  
 

I can use a little help these days and these look to fit the bill.
 

Will see how it goes but this set looks great at setup and if they work great value for a proven design. 
 

Fit and finish on them is spot on.

Are they shorter in blade length than the ZipCores? They appear to be from  pics.

Didn’t have any to compare them to. They appear shorter in length than the CG16 did. Very square and stout.

 

Just too cold today to sanely give them a range session.

Thanks. These are on my radar, especially at the price point. Less than $700 with my grip/shaft combo is an added bonus.
