Actually thought Megan might sneak a win here, but a very sloppy back nine. 

 

I assume a T4 more or less guarantees a card for Lucy next year? I'm sure she has bigger goals than simply keeping her card, but it's got to feel great to get that monkey off your back. 

 

Not quite a stellar Sunday for Auston, but overall a great start for the rookie. 

 

Nice start to the season for Mone. Follows up her T19 last week with her first top 10.

Don't get carried away here. Nelly was playing on a home course with a lot of local support. Started with a four shot lead and only won in a playoff on a hole Lyd's had failed to birdie all tournament!

It looks like Lucy has gained a little more distance off the tee which is helping and that $82,897 paycheck will be welcome...😉

A bit of a worry for RR#1 Lilia Vu to start the year today she failed to get a single birdie against four bogeys and Lexi with five. Poor putting letting them both down. 😟

Lucys putting was horrendous last year. 0 bogeys in these tough conditions today is certainly a promising start!  She should also now be locked into the Saudi tournament in 2 weeks with the boost to her Rolex Ranking from this event.

I chalk it up to unfamiliarity. First time playing the course and it seems the grain was a factor as Lydia mentioned post-round.

Those last 4 holes, and 2 playoff holes were a rodeo, roller coaster, christmas, a house fire, dentist visit, surprise party, and a lost puppy all wrapped up in about 1 hour.  Whew . . 😳😥

I thought at the outset the pairing of Nelly and Meg was going to be an issue. It's one thing to yuk it up on Thurs and Fri but the final group on Sunday with your bestie? PLUS, Meg was actually staying at Nelly's house. Awkward! The final 6" is in for a workout. Nelly tanking in the first several holes as Meg surged. Meg wresting control only to miss a shorty on #9 and never really recover. Lapse! Then they both drank from the same poisonous koolaid down the stretch. Thankfully Nelly was able to right the ship JIT.

 

Jason must be a super bagman. Wondering if his wife Caroline will make a start with Nelly on extended break. Anyone? Also wonder if Nelly wishes she WASN'T taking such a break right now. Judy Rankin would tell her to get back out there while you're in good form.

 

Congrats to Nelly and looking forward to Lyds getting that point in the near future.

At first glance it did, I rewatched it and it was legit. Just moved her hand out and released the ball in one swift motion.

 

i know the 3 putts has been mentioned but my word some of those putts were inexplicably short

Nelly hasn't had much of a break, she played both PNC and Grant Thornton.  I don't think she's missing out playing the early season Asian swing, majors are the goal this year!
