So according to Tom and the number runners, a second or third place finish in the second event of the year "could" be enough to guarantee a card for next year despite how poorly you play the rest of the season. 

Well, that sounds ridiculous. Any thoughts on this?

Our girl Gina Kim finished 3rd in Portland and not much else the rest of the season and was pretty safe in the 81-100 priority, so he's not far off.

A second is good for 320 CME points and 230 for third, which are powerful positions.  For reference, Lydia Ko finished at #100 last year with 249.571.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the CME points being weighted so heavily, doesn't necessarily reward consistency. The PGA Tour system now is even more of a  poop show.
