Oh wow. Interesting. I also am curious if I could throw my hybrid shaft into it. It’s a Titleist so it’ll have the same loft sleeve. I also know it’ll be a little shorter than standard length but it’d be something I’d test

I’m a low launch, mid spin drawer. My 3i is a sting machine, great for getting out of jail and keeping the ball out of the wind, but not so great holding greens on long par 3’s and par 5 approaches, tough to launch from the rough too.

Hybrids have always been low launch hookers with the exception of a random rental set that had one in 6s shaft (never would have thunk it)

Picked up a TS 7W off the BST here with the right shaft and got to play it outside for the first time yesterday (have had excellent results in the sim this winter). Used it off the tee on a mid-length dog leg right par 4 and a 225yrd approach into a par 5 from the fairway - both were point & shoot with a beautiful mid launch traj and soft landing. SO much easier to hit than a 3i.

I did a TSR 7W fitting last fall (limited shaft options for me) and it was a bit of a hot rocket. Launch and spin were lower than I needed/wanted so it was nipping on the heels of my 4W and didn’t make sense for gapping or holding greens.

After doing some homework and reading about prior gen Titleist 7W’s launching and spinning a bit more I took a flyer on the TS and love it. It basically does what a hybrid should do for me but in the 7W package

High launch high spin player here. For a while I gamed a 4 utility iron ZU45 for this spot and really liked it looked like an iron... kinda, and was more forgiving than the 4 iron of my set. I like you got curious about the 7 wood and thought it may suit my game for the long approach shorts. Tried a few 7 woods but could not launch it low enough and they spun like a top so it would have been a disaster in any sort of wind. As you can see by my sig I went with the UW but had to change out the stock shaft for a much heavier and stiff option and I play it shorter than stock length. I almost play it as a hybrid but with more confidence it wont go left on me.

I have replaced a couple through warranty with Callaway as the faces were rusting after a couple uses. Not sure if the new ones have this issue but I went through 3 of them if I recall. On my 3rd and there are small amounts of rust in the grooves.

I was looking at this and decided to do a quick search and the first one I clicked on had an old s83 X put in it.

I'm giving the Apex Pro 2016 a shot in my 3 UT/iron spot this year. It's a bonded head (might be my last). I've had a Mizuno CLK 4UT (22) from 2011 with a h90x diamana thump that has been pretty decent the last few years, but it's not much different than my 4 iron that has 23 degrees.

Intrigued by the idea of adding a seven wood. I hit my father in law's Ping 425 and it had a nice mid flight...

Well, you got me. Tsr1 20* hybrid will be here next week. Ordered heavier head weights and have my 90g tensei white going in it. Hoping that brings up the swing weight to where I want it and lowers some launch and spin a tad. Might throw a little lead tape toward the face to bring launch down more if needed. Just looking at it I really like the head shape. Beefy hybrid/smaller wood. Feel like I’ll get the best of both worlds and from other posters on here I’ve seen, they’ve done the same as you. Basically a point and shoot club that’s consistent which is exactly what I want. I’ll keep an update if you want. I’m beyond excited

This is the way. Please update this thread. I’ve played two rounds this week and the tsr1 has been the best club in the bag. It really is point and shoot. I’m hoping it’s the same for you.
