8802 Hype Coming?

Since Tiger played some practice rounds with Wilson 8802 this week, are WRXers going to be wondering about LA shafts, broomstick mods and deep face milling for their new practice-round 8802 if Tiger makes the cut?

It’s not exactly rocket science. I can barely break 80 and have been going to a Cleveland Design By or Hogan Junior blade when the stroke goes to crap for the last 20 years.

You have no choice but to put a good roll on it when you’re putting with this:

Sure hope so. I'm trying to get rid of a milled Designed by Ben Crenshaw and a Flanigan Bilt.

The 8802 niche is small.

Interestingly Tiger has had this 8802 for a long time and has discussed using it to practice for years. Too bad I engraved my initials on mine with a dremel like 20yrs ago otherwise i'd capitalize. 😅

Nothing really new on my end. I have been practicing some time with either a Bullseye or one of my numerous Macgregor Ironmasters. Last month or so I have been practicing with a Wilson Forged 600 special. In fact I putt so well with it I put it into front line play. For some time I have practiced with one of my beater Persimmon drivers and also with one of my blade Macgregor 5 and 7 irons. Any of those clubs if you can reasonably hit in the face then the more modern stuff is a no brainer

Ordered a sub 70 007 last week before all this went down. As a long time hockey player, this design fits my eye so we’ll see. Never rolled one before.

Woods began playing golf at a young age and during an era of the reign of Ansers, Bullseyes, 8802s and when the Zebra was radical.

It’s not surprising he messes around with an 8802 from time to time?

I hit was putting with the new 8802 milled in the golf shop and it honestly was the best putter I’ve ever felt. Too bad it’s 350 😭, guess I’m waiting for the price to drop

I guess, I can dig out my old Wilson 8802 with the original leather grip in the garage for a bit of practice. I am not sure it would help, as, I prefer an Anser style putter.
