next set of clubs for fast-growing 55-inch girl -- OK to jump ahead one size?

Looking for suggestions regarding the next set of clubs for my 55-inch tall daughter.

 

She is currently playing with US Kids clubs for height range 51-54 inches. So she is now an inch above the recommended height range.

 

We like US. Kids clubs, but need to decide which size set to buy: (1) 54-57 inches, or (2) 57-60 inches.

 

She is growing quickly, so if we going with 54-57 inches she might be in need of another set in about 8 to 10 months.

 

I'm leaning towards getting the 57-60 inch clubs so that we could get a couple years of use out of them. But would this pose problems with respect to swing development?

 

She is 11 years old, and has been playing for 5 years. So she is not a beginner. She has a smooth, polished swing. Not sure if this matters with respect to the choice we are facing, but I'm adding this information in case some of you might find it helpful.

Don't overthink this--go with the TS3-57".  This and the TS3/5-60" will likely be the last two junior iron sets you will buy before she needs adult irons.  Buy lightly-used if you can on eBay or elsewhere.   The set wedges are fine for now., OEM wedges at that size are more trouble than they are worth IMO.  The USKG irons are built to favor the smaller end of their product description IMO.

 

Grab a Prodi g fw and hybrid used at an appropriate length if you don't already own them.  If you do, get that free shaft swap from Ping when she is tall enough to justify it.

 

Go light with the driver, something like Epic Star, TS1/TS1/TSR1 or G4xx SFT head with an appropriate junior or ladies shaft.  Get that total weight to 280g or lower.

• If money is a concern, go with used clubs, but don't skip ahead to longer clubs. 

BTW, when you say 55-inch, is it with or without shoes? When comes to golf club measurement, the spec usually assume the player is wearing golf shoes, which typically add 1 inch.

She is 55 inches without shoes. I just measured her with shoes, and it puts her pretty close to 56 inches. So she is within one inch of the 57-to-60 height range. I'm guessing she will put on that inch within 3 to 4 months. This makes me lean even harder towards buy the 57-to-60 set, rather than 54-to-57.

She is 55 inches without shoes. I just measured her with shoes, and it puts her pretty close to 56 inches. So she is within one inch of the 57-to-60 height range. The problem is the 57-60 are really made for 60”. So even at 57” they are a little long. Mine always had to choke up a little when we moved up. As others have said, I would always err on the side of too short. Put her in the 54-57 and when she gets to 58 out her in the 57-60.

Buy the longer clubs they grow so fast  that you will need new clubs in 6 months.

 

Anyone with junior your kids age is sick of buying clubs and shafts by the time they reach high school.

When we played US Kids, I thought they were normally too long and heavy toward the lower band, so I would say they fit towards the top.

It’s probably different for every kid. My 11 year old has always moved up late (he didn’t move into 57-60 until he was 58” with shoes on).
 

I suspect having long arms and a shallow in to out swing is the reason he likes playing shorter US Kids clubs (essentially a flatter lie angle).
