Welcome.  Unfortunately, it’s more of a sink hole than a rabbit hole.  But since you asked, you need some JDM classic drivers: Ryoma D-1 V-Spec, JBeam 435 or ZY-11, or an Onoff “Shingo” 358 (the most forgiving of the three).  There’s a thread on the Tourstage MR-23 U.S. Spec irons.  These were made in both blades and cavity backs (the cavity back is a true player’s cavity back—it’s smaller than many blades).  Another all-time JDM cult classic would have to be the Epon 302 cavity backs.  If you’re a blade user the Epon AF Tours or Personal, or Personal 2, would also suit you well.  Happy digging!

I’ve been curious with the JDM drivers! I currently game a TSR2 with a tour ad di shaft. Can you give your opinion how the JDM drivers can compare to a TRS2 or a G430?

Unfortunately, I have no experience with those clubs.  But I’ll say that the Ryoma looks good and feels good and launches low to its loft; the JBeams are low-spinners; and the Onoff also looks and feels very good and plays true to its loft.  Why don’t you tell us what you’re looking for in terms of launch, fade or draw bias, and size?  Lion Golfer will probably chime in on shafts.

I've been pretty impressed with my PRGR RS driver. Very clean look, fairly easy to hit and as long as anything else I've played. Neutral flight and consistent. Don't have numbers unfortunately. I'd give PRGR a look.

It's a deep pothole.  I dabbled a toe last year with some Bridgestone TS-202s and a 709 Limited driver.  Next was a set of Miura CB-2007s currently in the bag.  I'm now impaitently awaiting these along with a pair of Fourteen 50* & 54* wedges.  🤣

 

I'd suggest a good set of JDM wedges like Miura 1957s as your next purchase.

Man its the North American clubs that are the rabbit hole but the only place it leads to is the realization that the rabbit hole that leads to the treasure is the JDM rabbit hole.  Why they are depriving us of this has been on my mind for so many years.

I am not looking for a crazy low-spin driver. Just something balanced, neutral driver that can be forgiving when you mishit it, gives you good distance when you hit the middle of the face. I’m really happy with my TSR2 right now so the JDM driver might have to wait.

 

The wedge suggestion is a good idea! I have a 54 forged vokey 10m and an SM9 vokey 58 14k for bunkers. Currently have a space for a 50 degree to game with the mc501. I’m really liking the miura “Y” grind! Which wedges have that type of grind?

OnOff fairway woods are amazing!  I will take my 7 wood with me to the grave.  I've been thinking about going with an OnOff 3 wood, just haven't pulled the trigger.

Check out Yamaha irons. I like them better than Miura, OnOff, Kyoei, Srixon, Mizuno….

I just purchased 2 yamaha forged wedges and they feel great. Which yamaha irons

I just picked up a PRGR RSF driver and a set of Baldo Competizione 568 T1 irons!

Any of the Inpres Forged line is great. 2010 - 2012. Endo forged..and the Tournament models which were limited production were forged in Japan. I have a set of heads listed, 2011 Inpres X V forged. I don’t play enough to justify more than two sets of irons anymore so sticking with a set of 2012 Inpres X V forged tournament irons. Just great player’s CB irons.

This is the most amazing 3 wood I’ve ever hit. Have spent more money trying to find something better than I care to admit.  Absolutely nothing else even comes close,  paired with a TRPX messenger Fairway this thing is incredible. 
I also have the matching 5 wood.

I’ve had the Epon AF-302s out a couple times now and they’re growing on me as I figure them out. The strike feel is so smooth.

 

The Fourteen DJ-5 wedges are just amazing. They’re just so simple to play well.

I just finished rebuilding these forged Baldo 568 Competizione irons with Nippon Modus3 120 shafts.

I think I’m sticking with my TSR2 & tour ad DI combo for now. It’s just a good setup for me. Now I just need a Miura 50 wedge or a Vokey forged, then my partial JDM set will be complete. Gonna try to check out the LAB putters too if the hype is real. That’s the part of the game where I struggle the most lol.
