Cameron Young shoots 59, so…………

I could post a bunch of links to articles and videos highlighting the importance of passive arms and hands with certain swing styles, but unfortunately it would be in vain because people in this sub-forumn don't want to hear it.

Feel free to reinvent the wheel and use my non-handicap to do it.

Because we already know that it’s not accurate or how the swing actually works, along with knowing your understanding of what’s said is not correct either. Plus you use terms for which you don’t understand the actual concept.

I’m sure one of them would probably be from rotary swing and we know from measured swings what he is talking about doesn’t happen and as has been discussed in here passive arms gets the clubhead left behind.

Its evident in nearly every swing in the swing video section.

If you and this great understaffing of the swing you wouldnt be shooting over 100 at this point or getting comments about having a John Daly like swing

this isn't a pause though like Hediki or Young. There is still flow into their front side. The problem us AMs have, and I am guilty of this too, is getting to quick and the tempo is super fast and out of sync. Or, a slower backswing and then rushing the downswing. This drill would work for the people that get too quick, not the folks with the slow backswing

What's odd is that as I've been working on my fault of swaying too much into the trail side on the backswing and getting stuck leading to a slide to the lead side on the downswing, I've actually noticed my transition is faster and my swing tempo is faster.

Prior to the changes, I was somewhere in a 27/10 or 28/9 tempo. Which isn't "slow" by any means, but certainly isn't fast. As I've started changing my swing to avoid the sway, get pressure into the lead side sooner, I've seen that speed up considerably. I'm about a 21/7 now.

Which I think makes sense... Where I was before is that I needed a lot more time to unwind the sway and get back to the lead side. I did it "alright" but certainly not good or consistently repeatable, as was evident in my ballstriking and low point control. I think the drill posted in the video may be good for people like [the former] me, who are trying to build in time to get left because they haven't done a good enough job. Not necessarily a "pause", but just a little more time to let them do what they failed to do as early as they should have. However it might also be a bandaid for people who should actually be focusing on getting to the lead side sooner and not focused on "waiting" to do it.

Here’s my experience on this forum.

There are 2 types of posters.

1.  Those that are open minded, like to be part of a discussion and learn new things.  The majority.

2.  Those that are close minded, like to be steadfast in their own beliefs in spite of facts and like to tell members of group 1 they are close minded and only have one way of thinking.

You and your students are entitled to your beliefs.  I am entitled to mine.  That is the way it works in a democracy.

One thing that you might consider is that Monte is a talented teacher and if you went to him for lessons you would improve.  Some of your 'beliefs' might change in the process.

And if your beliefs have a track record of either helping people or have been corroborated by something that gives them legitimacy, then they have value. But by your own words you’re basically a 25 hdcp, so like….what exactly are we doing here? 😅

Have you updated your beliefs on cores, sequencing, ball flight laws, and the concept of what a hip turn is, or do you still feel the same way about Cameron Young’s swing as you did yesterday? Because you can have all the beliefs you want, but they aren’t special just because they’re yours.

It sounds like you’d benefit from posting videos to get help with your own swing for the same reason I’d ask someone like you for advice on Greek citizenship and business/tax law, because my knowledge of the US/AU equivalents might not be relevant.

There’s only one truth not each individuals truth.

Your beliefs aren’t based in facts and have been disproven by data. You can have all the beliefs you want but know they aren’t backed by any data

Monte is a plus handicap golfer, long drive champion who also has tour experience along with 40 years of teaching lessons, giving seminars and being asked by brands and other top level coach’s to give presentations to other coaches. His knowledge is far and above that of a 100+ golfer who has very few rounds of golf under their belt.

It’s useless everyone.

What he said can literally be translated as you and your math students can believe 2+2=4 but I believe it is 5.

Would you try and convince someone who said this if they repeated it multiple times?

He’s either out of touch with reality or a very successful troll.

That’s what’s great about the internet, there’s no embarrassment penalty.

He probably the dude that provoked Lickliter at his lesson with me.  Guy was chunking and blading chips and he interrupted my lesson with Frank and paid the embarrassment penalty.

This clip from the recent Rick Shiels upload with Rose feels relevant, especially because Rick perfectly fills the role of the guy who doesn't *really* know what he's talking about (your hands are quite passive) and Rose ever the consummate professional corrects him (my hands are actually very active).

Feels are subjective

What ball flight is better is subjective

How the ball flies off the club and what actually happens in a swing is not

Some people just refuse to split the two ideas.

Yes, but we frequently mix up objective truths and subjective truths (which are not truths at all, but perceptions). Virtually everyone does in their lives frequently and more often in certain areas of their lives than others.
