Update to my backyard green/bunker/teebox

There is a sump with a trash pump in it down in the floor of the pit which removes any water that builds up down there. All of the electrical is also located above the wall line of the pit, so even if it did somehow fill completely up with water it would overflow before the electrical got submerged. This is of course pretty much impossible anyway since the volume of the pit is so large... if there was ever a major plumbing failure that drained the pond into the pit, the level would balance out way before the pit gets filled (even if the sump is inactive due to a power outage or whatever).

Artificial yards around here aren't very common, but you do see them every once in awhile. The neighbors all love it.

I don't have a dog, but my friends' dogs use the turf like they would any normal grass. The turf doesn't stain from it and everything cleans up easily with a garden hose.

I actually used douglas fir for the decking. The 45* angle is something I have been wanting to do on this deck since I first started drawing it up in my head. I am also going to use hidden fasteners so there will be ZERO screw/nail holes in the decking. Should turn out awesome.

are you going to put some type of access to your pump and stuff from the deck or are you going to access that some other way?

Yeah there will be 7 hatches that pop out so I can access everything from the top side.

Very Cool backyard green. We must be kindered spirits I just put my second green in this summer.
[list][*]I use Country CLub Elite Real Feel Golf Mats for my tee boxes.[*]We hit limited flight birdie balls to the green (about 30-40 yards away)[*]And then place a real ball - so you chipping or putting with a real golf ball[/list]We have some tournaments and it gets pretty heated out there.
I love it and hoping someday my kids might even want to play with their old man.

I've been stockpiling some pics as I go, but it's been crazy here lately with work so I haven't had much time to make progress out back.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So that's where I'm at as of this past weekend. About halfway through rocking the waterfall, I ran into a pretty major snag with how I set up the sandbags. The curves just weren't jiving with eachother and I wasn't happy with it. So the upper pools got drained fully, and the main pond drained down to the plant shelf, and everything was re-done. The lotus pond is smaller, and the deck's span across the main pond is larger. Much better now.

 

This week so far I stained/sealed the sides/ends/bottoms of all the decking boards. I also started installing the hidden fasteners and am currently 1/3rd of the way done... after they are all in I am going to belt sand the surface and stain/seal it.

 

I'm hoping to fully finish the deck by the end of this weekend, and get back to finishing the waterfall rock next week. Not many warm days left so gotta get a move on.

The liner that hangs over the edge on the outside of the pond will be covered in rough turf, the upper fall areas will all be covered in stripstone and flagstone, and the inner underwater part of the pond will be left uncovered.

Yeah, originally I was going to do a railing along the pond edge... but it is nice without it and like you said it will be nice to chip off of a mat from up there. Nobody has fallen into the pond, lol, YET.

The green looks great!! I just finished mine last summer, the bunker was a bit trickybut well worth it!
