This is my budget Byron. $30 and it is the best putter I've ever used. I bought it off ebay and it fits me like I had it custom built. The length, lie angle and grip are perfect. It's a bit light, but I love it. I am so comfortable and confident with it. I wouldn't mind trying a stainless steel Dale Head or its modern day Byron equal. Where can I find one?

Is there any relation between John Byron and Byron Morgan?

Wow - I thought Byron wouldn't do a cherry dot like that? Nice putter.

I think the cherry dots were painted by Patrick..Nice looking putter

Steve is correct. I used that translucent red paint that Deerslayer recommended (found some on ebay). Turned out quite nicely. I tried some other colors, but none of them looked right with the "Boomer Sooner". It just had to be crimson!

Love these putters!

I have been to the Byron website but have to say it doesn't really tell me much.

What are the differences between 006, 007 and 007x?

What can you have stamped on the putter I see some clovers some skulls and some lightning bolts are they the only options?

Does the satin mist finish protect a carbon steel putter head or will it still rust and does it change the feel at all?

Are there any lefties floating around?

sorry to ask all these questions here but it seemed like the logical place to do it seeing as we have a byron thread going.

Thanks

-Ben

Drew put this up a Puttertalk ...

** 006 **

An anser 2-style, cnc-milled in one piece from a solid billet, engineered with the sweet-spot (center of gravity) inline with the center of the pocket. We currently have the 006 available in 11L17 carbon steel in a variety of finishes. The headweight is approx. 355g +/- 1g without a sound slot and approx. 350-351g with a sound slot.

** 007 **

A Scottsdale anser-style, cnc-milled in one piece from a solid billet, engineered with the sweet-spot (center of gravity) inline with the center of the pocket. We currently have the 007 available in 11L17 carbon steel in a variety of finishes. The headweight is approx. 355g +/- 1g without a sound slot and approx. 350-351g with a sound slot.

** 007 TCB **

A Scottsdale anser-style, cnc-milled in one piece from a solid billet of Tellurium Copper, engineered with the sweet-spot (center of gravity) inline with the center of the pocket. The 007 TCB is a limited production run of less than 50 pieces, and we currently have only a few left. The headweight is approx. 365g +/- 1g (without sound slot) and approx. 360g with sound slot.

:

** 007X CUSTOM**

The 007 head shape which has been designed and cnc-milled without a neck to accomodate a variety of custom-welded necks. We are waiting on the completion of the neck parts and should be up and running with these soon.

** Craftsman Series **

We are starting a periodic series of putters that showcase the craft of putter-making. Not true hand-mades, but these custom crafted putters will have extensive grinding and milling operations and welded hosels.

The first putter in the craftsman series is going to be a TPAXVIII-style mallet.

** Channel Islands **

The Channel Islands is a new design for a heel-toe weighted, high-MOI mid mallet with traditional styling.

As far as stamping we have the Griffin,Lightning Bolts, Skulls,Crossbones and Clovers.. We also have a circle, smiley face and a few I can`t remember off hand.

We use Coldstar which has a thin layer of copper then the nickel finish on top. Anything will rust if put away wet.

Not many lefties floating around. PM me with anymore questions.. I am here to help

thanks,

Steve

  • 3 weeks later...

Well I am finally posting mine, taken yesterday at Dobson Ranch where I live. They are off my BB phone, so I am not sure they are that great to see. The color is matte Black at address on top view, and gloss Black on face and sole. Sole is blank and smooooth...Thanks for looking.

Nice pictures...

Thanks Steve. Am I blatant about my affinity with Byron's putters? :D

My gamer will be testing out a couple of courses in Alabama this upcoming weekend. The putter is itching to get back on green grass!

John Byron DHLNI: Dale Head with 3-Penny Insert & LongNeck

I apologize Byron.... I'm trying to get my cash flow up so I can finally try one of your new putters. Christmas should help!!! :D

That's a rare headcover. I knew it existed, but I have never seen the football version (there is a baseball version also).

Gotta love the looks of those putters, John has been around for some time and makes a fine flatstick, almost too bad not more people have them in the bag,

But a lot of people you see at the pro shops just are able to see OEM putters. To bad for them.

Erh...it's Byron. "John Byron" was a collaboration between Byron Morgan and another John many moons ago. Don't worry, when I was at Byron's shop I also said "Hey John"...oooops....

Yeah, I have to agree. The finish & build is outstanding, the face finish has to be seen to be believed - a very classy milled putter and you get options that OEMs don't offer like sight lines, paint fills. I was really enjoying the putting yesterday on the fast greens - the long 50+ footers were within 1 1/2 ft with perfect speed.

I'll contribute pics to this thread at a later stage.
