That thing is a wreck. I wouldn't touch that thing. Dont even know if its possible to return it to factory, Youd have to weld it up everywhere, I guess You could remill the face, weld the sole solid, fill in here or there. By the time your done you got 20 hours into a 150 dollar putter. :black eye:

i want to back up the story line, at some point in time, according the back story, if accurate, they seller found buried in the ground.

 

I just can't believe at some point someone wanted to bury a scotty in the ground. talk about stupid.

it's sad, maybe some body can bring it back to being functional for a "second life.

 

if you go on scottycameron.com, you will see the story about scotty refinishing some peter jacobson's putters that looked pretty bad. i was impressed with what the shop can do, althought this putter is way worse that peters...

They do work miracles at the SC refinishing shop. I've seen another almost as bad as that one (although not as pitted) and it was sent in and came back BRAND NEW for condition. I swore that they put on a new head, but they didn't.

 

Can be done... if not, they will contact you and let you know what thier limitations are.

There is no way the Studio is touching that bad-boy.

I have a huge amount of faith in bringing a putter back from the dead, but this one should be re-buried and put to rest.

You guys have no idea howhard it is to say that about a putter, for me, but this one is gone, baby, gone.

I'd take a grinder to the face and smooth it out the best I could....then I'd put it in the bag with a brand new $500 Cameron headcover!!! Then when I pull that sucker out, people will be like :shok: :hunter: :cheesy: I'd leave the same grip and everything.

 

The seller should have said it was "Tour Issue." He would have gotten more money for it.

I think a lot of you guys are way off base on this one. I compare this to an old beaten up and abused pet looking for a good home. No one wants to just let it die.

The Custom Shop will take ANY Scotty in and refinish. I can understand the $101 bid on this. Its a nice model and some Scotty fan simply wants to make the putter "whole" again.

Though I agree with LaMont that this one can't be saved, I encourage everyone to check out the slideshow at scottycameron.com featuring Peter Jacobson's putters (which sat in water after a leak in his garage). They're brought back from near death...

I applaud your enthusiasm, but I have to inform you that you are slightly mistaken on this point.

The Studio has limits, believe me. I have wound up with more than one in my shop that was turned away from Scotty's shop. It isn't that they COULDN'T the work. I have seen a few and even had a few done there, myself that still amaze me. It is only that the amount of raw time that would be involved in this putter would make it a losing proposition on any end.

If you do a search for "frankenputter" you'll see one that got turned away and wound up in my hands. I had several guys laugh at the onset of the project, but it turned out pretty sweet.

I look at this one and just shake my head...........WHO WOULD DO THAT TO A PUTTER? ANY PUTTER FOR THAT MATTER?

I hope that we are wrong and that someone rescues this one and returns it to some form of glory, but it is a mountain of work, for sure.

this is an easy fix. Sand blast it, then fill all the pits with white paint and call it snow (or what ever the shop calls that white dot finish). The thing woud be a one of a kind.

I just got a Bettinardi BB-8 off the bay, has a ding/gouge in the face!!! This thing makes mine look sweet!

WOW....and for $102 bucks winning bid???? I bet it's going to get restored and look sweet eventually for that kinda money. Someone must have wanted it badly.
