Retro golf bags

Still using one?

Any other geriatric types, like me, still using a single-strap, non-stand, carry bag? How often do you use it? If you are, what kind of bag are you using? Do your mates think you have lost your mind, like mine assume I have?

I don't use it a ton... but I do have an old green Jones bag kicking around in the garage.

I still sometimes use my Jones bag. I also have an early Sun Mountain single strap with no legs that was the same as the early Ping bags. Mine is still in very good shape. And yes, I do use them regularly, if the clubs I happen to want to play that day are loaded up and ready to go. They're light and they work.

I have a couple sunday bags I use - one is a mini titleist, the other is a MacKenzie Walker.

I dropped the staff bag for a smaller one as it is lighter and easier to lug around, plus it fits my pull bag better.

heres my bag, , Pipe Organ Golf bag by Hughes, very heavy bag, has cardboard tubes to hold irons. Wood headcovers are sewn into the bag with zippers.

I do - my bag is not as old school as the one immediately above me, but I carry a Titleist Sunday bag as long as the grass isn't wet (and sometimes when it is). I just enjoy carrying a lightweight bag with just a few balls in the pocket. I love the single strap and I change up shoulders every other hole or so. I would love to have one of the stylish retro leather Sunday bags (Mackenzie, McKennon, iliac, etc.) but $400-800 for a bag that weighs as much as a stand bag - 5 lbs - doesn't work for me. I like lightweight nylon.

Sorry - didn't see that this was posted in the Classic Golfers forum. I'm 26. Just trying to carry on (no pun intended) some of the traditions.

We welcome the "old at heart", too. We'll need someone to do CPR. Hope you can use a defib.

In case you're interested, the walking golfer sells a couple of versions of the MacKenzie bags in nylon that are much cheaper, and I'm sure they're much lighter too. I like that they're plain black which is classic looking.

Coincidently, I was just thinking of resurrecting my bag from the '80's. A "hot-Z" leather bag. It's kind of heavy though.

A little late to the thread, but I've been carrying a Mulholland Brothers Sunday Walker that was made in the 80's. Just love it, carry 10 clubs and that's it. I even reshafted my 1995 Mizuno MP Grads so I can be a little "old school". I would still love to have a MacKenzie or Iliac leather bag.
