aldila voodoo specs?

StugyGolf

Recommended Posts

list of ALL the voodoo series shafts please!
I am looking for the specs on a few of the shafts. And just wanted to make sure if I have this correct, the first lettre is the flex, the next two are the style of shaft (vs - vs proto, nv - NV, pp - Protopype), and the number indicates roughly which weight class the shaft is in?

Are they just as simple as say an SNV6 would be the specs of a NV stiff 65g?

Thanks!

Well you have the basic bend profiles, weights and flexes. This is based on personal experiences as well as what i've heard, i've hit a lot of voodoos. XNV6 for example means X flex, NV bend profiles and 60-70g range etc

These are the bend profiles available.

NS - NVS profile, High launch, mid spin

DV - DVS profile, Mid-high launch, mid-low spin

VS - VS proto profile, Mid launch, mid-low spin

NV - NV profile, Mid-low launch, low spin

PP - Protopype profile, Very Low launch, low spin

CN - Cinnamon proto profile, High launch, very low spin

HL - Special high launch profile, Very high launch, low spin

Obviously as the flex and weight increase the launch and spin will decrease. Of all these voodoos, the best i have hit is the XNV6 i used to have in a S9-1 pro S driver. That was a very low spin cobo and was very long.

As far as the weights go, I know that the Voodoo S-core structure adds a little weight, so each shaft has an additional 5-8 grams than its normal version. For example, the XNV6 is 74 grams while the NV 65 X is 68 grams. The XVS6 is 68 grams while the VS Proto 60 X is 61-62 grams, etc etc.

Just to note, the XCN8 does not exist. The Cinnamon VooDoo and the HLLS VooDoo were made special for BSG. Aldila treated them as any other customer that custom orders a "made for" shaft and they made two bend profiles. They are not tour issue, they are BSG issue. They only made them, as far as I know, in 60g & 70g and perhaps in Stiff and X-Stiff.

There is an "Apples VooDoo" profile which is similar to an XDV7 and was made for Stuart Appleby. There is also a "CHIII Limited Edition" which is a stiffer XVS7, kind of like an XXVS7 and was made for Charles Howell III. I personally have had both of these shafts. There also exists an XXPP7 and is for sale on the Aldila website. (Along with a RIP XX.) I have also hear of the PP protoPype voodoo's being in Stiff but they are RARE.

Here are a list of VooDoo's I have either owned or have hit.

Apple's VooDoo, CHIII Limited Edition
XVS6, XVS7, XVS8, XVS9, SVS6, SVS7, SVS8, XVS8 Hybrid, XVS9 Hybrid, SVS8 Hybrid, SVS9 Hybrid
XNV6, XNV7, XNV8, SNV6, SNV7, SNV8, XNV8 Hybrid, SNV8 Hybrid
XDV7, XDV9
XPP6, XPP8, XPP105 (XPP105 was made for Sergio)
SVR6, SVR7, XVR6, XVR7
Titleist "Made For" S, X, Hybrid (They are a cross between a VS6 and a VS7 with a very slightly stiffer tip section, good shaft!)
I've also hit made for VooDoo's for Cobra and that blue one I can never remember if it was for Adams or Mizuno or who?

Also, in case someone didn't know, the Aldila "PGA TOUR ONLY" graphics shafts are just prototypes to the VooDoo shaft. They are the same specs as the code listed on the retail shafts. Also, someone above mentioned the VS were the only retail VooDoo's. The NV voodoo's were released public also.

Thanks, Mark! Your post is always appreciated when it comes to Voodoos as you are the WRX resident Voodoo expert.

So they made a DV9? Man, that would be awesome. I would be ALL OVER an XDV8 if they made one..

And the Blue Voodoo (SVS7*) was a made-for for the F11 fairway woods.

Sorry for posting in an old thread, but does anyone know what the Skull and Crossbones designates? Does it just mean tour issue or is it a different profile.

Pretty sure it just means the shaft is tour issue but was hoping for confirmation. Same profile as stated on the shaft.

There were several different color configurations and such. Profiles Match with the description above.

The original was matte black with red logos. Then the first Tour issued ones were with the skull and crossbones, which I believe was more towards Rory Sabbatini who liked the skull and crossbones on everything.

I believe only one of these made it to retail and most of the profiles were Tour Only or prototypes.

Here we go, throwing up an old post but I have no idea on any information I have for the shaft in my Ping G400 Driver. The details on the shaft says " Aldila Voodoo with Score AVR6. I have searched the web with no return. Not even a mention of that model. Anyone know anything about this driver shaft at all please?

VR stand for the victory red profile, meaning it is a shaft aldila made exclusively for that nike club. I would say mid launch mid spin.

Recently picked up a couple of SNV7 shafts. Put one an old Kenneth Smith KS-4 3 wood head. Perfect low launch, low spin combo. Hit a couple in the 260-270 off the tee first time out. As I have struggled finding a graphite fairway wood shaft for years, I couldn't be happier.
