who's still playing discontinued equipment?

what up guys.......the earlier post about the rac os2 being discontinued and now the mizzy 23s.........i'm playing both but i'm wondering about who's still playing discontinued equipment and does it bother you that you don't play the latest and greatest............my 23s probably won't get much action this year......i'm probably going to play them next year but i'm playing the os2 throughout the summer and part of the begining of next year to get back into swing before i pull out the 23s.........love what i play........and what i have.....probably won't change because the manufacture decide not to make them anymore...but was just wondering...?

I am playing discontinued Srixon I302's and I love them so it doesnt bother me at all.

Not 100% sure the ignite T60 is discontinued or not, but I love it and it won't change in the near future.

Every club in my bag is "discontinued" except my 52 Vokey. (R510 TP, Retro Raylor, PT20, 690MB's, 58 Vokey Raw, Cameron mallet) In addition, the shafts on my fairway woods (HM-40 and EI-70 tour) are discontinued.

 

If there's a negative in not having the latest, I haven't noticed it!

don't get caught up in the marketing hype of these companies. it's their job to make money so of course everything will be labeled as the newest and latest on the cutting edge of technology. discontinueds and markdowns are really the first thing i seek. and dont' forget when all of these products first came out however long ago, what is it we were being told??? this is the best thing we've ever made or it doesn't get any better than this!!! i wouldn't say to totally ignore the technology as there have been technological advances made, but stick with performance and what gets you from tee to green at par or better......

No it really doesn't bother me. I mean the r7 fairways took over for the v-steel and there is no way in hell, i'd trade them off for anything. The OS2's aren't my cup of tee, but I'm sure "it's the indian, not the arrow."

All of my current clubs are 'old' technology, but I haven't seen much reason to change.

I have a good aquaitance who is a legit scratch. He's a big guy. Probably about 6 foot 1, 260 lbs. He legit hits it about 290-310 with his driver just about everytime. I just met him last year and played twice with him. The guy is awesome. I have more respect for his game than most people i've played with. Both times I played with him he shot even par on a par 71 course, with a slope of about 129. He just upgraded to the New Titleist "R" driver and his irons. Take a guess, Titliest 990s. I told him, "hey, you gotta upgrade those", he looked at me and smiled and said, yeah, but i really like these. Meanwhile he hit about 70 percent of the greens. Moral of the story, most real great players use what works.

Don't know whether MP33s and MP30s qualify as they are still classed as signature products on the Mizuno website i.e. technically discontinued as a frontline product in the range but still available as a custom order. My Titleist 980F Strong fairway is definitely discontinued as is my 'original model' Odyssey Dual Force Rossie II putter.

Discontinued equipment will still work for a lot of people. Go with what works for you.

 

I own 4 drivers, and only 1 is a current year model. Going back to my Cobra SZ 400, which worked well for me last summer.

My sonartec TRC's and my Macgreggor M565's are discontinued. They work good for me so there is no need to upgrade.

I use Titleist 681 Irons and a Cameron Del Mar 3.5 Putter which are both discontinued clubs.

 

The 681's are still my favorite Titleist irons, i like the new ones , but just like these better.

All of my clubs are discontinued. Everything from my Cally steelhead 3 driver to my Titleist dci irons to my wilson putter i need to upgrade i know thats gonna happen soon i hope.

The only 3 clubs in my bag that are not discontinued are my driver, utility wood and wedge. I believe my irons (Hogan GCD's) are from circa. 1995 and the putter is at least 2-3 years old.

Holla Holla YO YO I am playing the 690cb's and I will be playing them probably for a good 3 more years. The way club companies are today, you could buy one thing and use it for a month and something new would be out. There is no way to keep updated with clubs unless if you have all the money in the world and your able to get accustomed to clubs quickly..

 

So in close, HOLLA HOLLA I am OUT DOGG!!!!!! Yo shiat
