Belt stains on my shorts and shirts.

My wife is getting tired of cleaning stains from my belt bleeding on my clothes. I sweat a lot and have even purchased new belts that do the same thing. Does anyone have any ideas on first, how to get the stains out and second, what belts they use that don't bleed. I went to a leather shop, got some cleaner first and then proctector spray and had the same problem. I have used a PGA belt and just recently bought a Brighton belt at a golf shop. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I usually wear dress belts and I haven't noticed this playing in hot or wet weather. I would think something like kaboom detergent for stains and I would think it would have to do with choice of pants fabric...

i've had similar problems before with leather belts, new belts are worse than older ones at this so you buying new belts is probably just feeding the problem. you might want to consider a different type of belt, maybe something a bit more stylish (not bright orange j.lindberg) but also not leather.

This is an old thread I found doing a search I need to revive.

As the title states, the ink from my belts is bleeding on to my shorts. Nike shorts, adidas even the cheaper Grand Slam shorts from Kohl's - it doesn't matter - when done with a day on the course there are black marks on the waistline from the ink on the belt.

I had a cheap belt so upgraded to a $40 dollar nike belt and it did the same thing. I want a nice adidas belt but if the same thing is going to happen I am not going to spend the money.

This has to be happening to others.

Is it?

I really don't want to go to the canvas nike and puma belts I have seen.
Help!!!

For $75 plus shipping you can get a custom black, white or brown leather strap made by House of Fleming. Might be out of your price range but I guarantee they wont bleed onto your shorts.

I've had this same issue happen on shorts with leather belts and sweat...until I switched up to the fabric belts which loop through the metal buckle rings. Much less of an issue, but the fabric belts might not be everyone's cup of tea.

Jcigars aren't you friends with Frank Montro? We play together at Prestwick here in Chicago. Frank is getting ready to defend the club championship in a couple of weeks. Qualifying this weekend.

House of Fleming will not bleed they are some high quality belts and will last a long (life?) time. Personally I love the white with black contrast stitching shown above might have to add that soon. Just remember if you are used to Nike and Adidas belts HoF is just a strap, so make sure you keep your favorite buckles from your Nike or Adidas belts, but once you get your HoF you can toss the Nike and Adidas straps you will never want to wear them again.

I have a Nike reverse belt white/black and the black side will do it a bit. I have seen new Nike belts that have a tanned "no slip" side that do not reverse sides. For those in the know, the hof straps will fit any buckle? I have been wanting to order a few buckles and make my own belts, looks like the hof stuff is where to start!

I have this happen on occasion but I never really worry too much because the belt goes right back over the stains anyway.

The H of F straps are custom made so we can make them work with any buckle.

I have had the same problem before with my belts bleeding I sweat a lot and it can be a problem. I switched to the HOF belts about a year and half ago and I have all kinds of skins from leather, ostrich, lizard and alligator. I have never had one of these belts bleed onto my pants and I wear khaki pants or shorts everyday. For the money the leather ones are a steal the others can get pricey but are definitely worth the money and they are completely custom.

I've had the same problem, but unfortunately do not have the budget for high end belts. I've discovered that singled sided belts that are not dyed on the inside will not stain nearly as much.

Solution: Go to your local shoe store/leather smith and ask him to MAKE you a belt out of his high quality leather.

My local guy has made me two 1.5" 'straps' for under $100. And they are three layers of leather, while most are 2 pieces of leather and the insert is cardboard.

I bought two belt buckles that are interchangeable on the straps.

They have never bled because they are high quality leather. I wear them with white or light shorts all the time.

The leather wasn't properly sealed with a sheen coat. The dye is bleeding. How to fix I do not know, but I do know that is the issue.

It is my understanding that they can work off what you have I don't think you will have to send them in unless it is something way out of the ordinary but I believe they can just go off what you tell them or give them some measurements of it.
