Curious about Callaway Diablo Octane Tour Black

Can anybody tell me what the difference is between the callaway octane tour driver and the callaway octane tour black driver? Seeing pics of the 'black' version has me drooling.

I have a black version and it's a bad mofo I'm actually selling one now and have another for myself with a project X 7a3 shaft. Love it actually got to put it in play on friday.

No, it's the European/Japan version that the U.S. won't get.

And the i-mix versions are straight off the fitting carts.

I was looking at this driver at a pro shop today. The Callaway website says that the regular model sits square and the tour model is 1 degree open. To the naked eye, the regular model definitely looks closed, a lot like the FT 9. The tour model appears square and looks great.

I'm glad they are releasing it (albeit in limited quantities) in the US. I always thought it was odd that we got it in the UK but not in the states. It is an awesome looking driver. Really sleek. Performance is identical to the US version but looks nicer with the black finish.

These are available in a 10.5 in the UK and are widely available for £189, about $310. I put one in the bag yesterday.

That is a pretty keen price compared to the Razr Tour, 910 or R11.

Wow, you can get three different lofts in the UK...had I known, I would not have bought my 10.5 regular version. Thanks for the post.

i honestly think that if they had released this as an all black driver from the beginning their sales would be MUCH better. It just looks kind of cheesy with the chrome and bright red decal on the bottom. But it's actually a pretty bada** driver. I've had some great LM sessions with mine

tour project x shaft in the black watered down version in the regular color tour octane. big difference in the shafts i own both and scrspped the "made for" for the authentic project x and it makes such a difference wich is nice since I prefer 8.5 loft. dont know why the black only comes in 9.5

The standard color Tour is also 1* open, same as the black. You must be looking at the non tour.

My mistake. I was looking at the non-tour. Whatever the case, the Tour Octane Black we just received was way out of spec. Among other things, the shaft cpm'd at 243. Pretty much a soft reg flex.

sorry for bringing back an old thread but I am interested in picking up one of these black octanes and was wondering what peoples impressions are of them now after the honeymoon period is over. What; kind of launch and spin is this head? Stock shaft any good or should I plan on swapping? thanks

I am speaking based on second-hand knowledge, but one of my best golfing buddies (who is also a club ho) has the Tour Diablo with the tour PX 6.0 shaft (I can't remember the code sequence but it started with a 7) and he recently dumped it for his older Nike Machspeed driver.

He loved it for about 4 months and then started having problems and just lost confidence in the club. The honeymoon period is a fickle thing. It is amazing what you can love for a short period of time and how quickly that love turns to hate.
