My 2011 course lineup

About to book my annual April trip to sunny AZ. Here is what I'm thinking for 2011 ---

GC @ Esrella (last time I was there salt ruined the course and I said I'll never go back. I chg'd my mind...until someone suggests otherwise)

Las Sendas (it's been years since I've played it)

Eagle Mtn

Raven @ Verrado (worth the drive IMO)

We-Ko-Pa 36

Troon Pinnacle

Estrella is in good condition.

I'd add Vista Verde. Great course for the money.

Also doesn't hurt to see if you can get on some private courses since they may want some limited outside play. Quintero comes to mind. Great course, excellent conditions that I've seen.

I am in the process of quoting. I should have some numbers in 1-2 days. Full disclosure...will advise.

I don't love Dinosaur Mtn. I know, everyone else does. I think the scenery is great and the elevation changes are good and bad. I don't love the course, layout, elevation change, etc, etc. It always gets good press. I don't love it or hate it. With so many courses to choose from my personal preference is to play somewhere else...again, I am not saying it is not a good track for people to play. If you have never played it you really should...than have your own opinion. I don't want to scare people away who have not played - that's unfair.

Las Sendas has made a lot of changes since a new Canadian ownership group took over about 2 years ago. My dad is now a member and the course is 100% better now. The course now has real cartpaths (no more dirt paths, bags get so dusty) through the entire course, a snack shack on the course, a new Proshop, a new fine dining restaurant (with a great young chef) and a lounge with a awesome patio that overlooks the entire valley. The course is in great shape and they have slowed the greens to a more reasonable speed since you would have played there last. Also look out for a Golf Digest story on the course in the next few months. I really think everyone that has played Las Sendas in the past would be really pleasantly surprised with what is going on there. On a side note, I played Eagle Mountain last month and its in really good shape.

Didnt think much of TPC Scottsdale, glad to see your not playing there. I enjoyed the other Troon North Course as well.

I've been going down to Scottsdale for the last three years. Last week in March.

Tonto Verde has three courses

Made some adjustments to the schedule and booked today! So psyched!! It will be hard to prepare with the white stuff still on the ground here in the northeast.

Sat - GC at Estrella
Sun - Las Sendas
Mon - Eagle Mtn
Tues - 36 at We-Ko-Pa
Wed - Raven @ Verrado
Thurs - 36 at Troon North

Looks like a great line up.

I'm with you about Gold Canyon Dinosaur. A very scenic and fun to play course that I recommend everyone try. Some very good holes and spectacular backdrop of the Superstition Mountains. But it's not really a [i]great [/i]course that is worthy of frequent visits IMO.

I'm not a big fan of Eagle Mtn. Too much of the concave look. Certainly friendly and can be a good value. Worth a visit for sure if you've never played it.

Keep Vista Verde amd Southern Dunes in mind for future visits or if you change your mind about Eagle Mtn.

No love for the ASU Karsten course? I thought it was a pretty good Dye layout and it was very reasonable. We were there in May and got a good tee time off golfnow.com for $38 or something.

I loved both Las Sendas and Sunridge Canyon.
