For those that carry a 60deg wedge

how?
just wondering what clubs people have who carry a 60deg wedge. For me I can't seem to find room. I have a driver,3w, 2i hybrid, 3-pw, 52, and 56. That's 14 clubs and I can't really imagine dropping any. Usually I don't need all the loft of a 60 and if I do I can open up my 56 and hit flop shots easy enough, I'm just not sure what you guys do to carry a 60.

The next club after the 3H is a 4i, that's how I do it.

Having said that, I find that my least used club in the bag to be the 52 and if my set wasn't right on 14 clubs I would drop it. So for your situation, maybe think about whether you use your 52 often enough compared to the 2H or 3i, then decide if you wanna drop one of those for a 60.

Nail. Meet head.

Though I think I use my 52 enough. I rarely take the 56 out besides from the sand.

My set

Driver
16* hybrid
19* hybrid
24*hybrid - distance of a 3 iron but has a 4 iron loft.
4-pw pw is 48*
54
58
putter

going 52 58 is another option as I also have a 52* wedge.
The 58 is great out of the sand. Also do 54 60 as well.

I had the same issue. I then took a count at how often I hit each club. At the course I am a member of....you NEED to be in the fairway or you're screwed. So I dropped my woods for hybrids. I have a very odd bag. I play a driver 2h, 4h, 4-pw, 52,56,60. It works best for my game at my course.... The 4 hybrid and 4 iron may seem odd but I love my 4 iron out of the rough and in the wind and I love my 4 hybrid when I need to get it up quickly and pound it a little further.

I don't get to play enough to really dial in half and 3/4 shots so i carry 3 wedges (52,56, and 60). this setup leaves me with managable distance gaps from my PW through the 60. I find more use for those shots than covering distance gaps with longer clubs. I took out by 3 iron and had my 4 iron bent a little strong to help compensate for the distance gap to my 2 hybrid. i feel more comfortable with a 20 yard gap between my 2hybrid and 4iron than having to hit less than full shots for anything under 100 yards. 60 wedge is a specialized club but it comes in handy when i short side myself. I also like a lot of bounce on my sand wedge so it's tougher to open up the face without fear of catching the blade on tight lies. The 60 lets me use a more standard chip/pitch motion instead of going to the flop shot route with the 56.

I do pretty much what these guys have said... drop a club on the longer end of the bag, one with a distance that can be adjusted to by choking down on a longer club. Could be a FW, hybrid, 3-iron, or even 4-iron, just figure out what you'll miss the least, and what distance can be accounted for most easily. Remember, this is also about course management and playing the percentages, so just play a few rounds to see what your tendencies are and how you benefit from the change, and make your decision based on that. A different alternative would be to "collapse" your 52 and 56 into say a 54, if you're comfortable with that, but it sounds like the 60 is more of the optional club for you.

It's important to minimize the gaps throughout the entire set, AND still have a club you can use from 100 out. I had a 40 yard gap between 3h and 3w, and a 25 yard gap between pw and sw, and 20 between SW and LW. LW went 85, SW 105. Added a 5w that goes about 215-220, and swapped out the 56/60 for 52/58. Now I have about a 10 yard gap between 52/58 and a 20 between 5w/3w. Even more important, the 58 can go 100 yards consistently.

It's also important that you not sell those clubs replaced and also not suddenly get any better with your ball striking/get longer with your irons. This messes up everything and will leave you needing to club ho again

If you look at the WITB's of a lot of touring pros you will see they have a fairly weak lofted PW, in the 48-49* range, 54* then 60*

My pitching wegde is supposed to have 49 degrees of loft (10 years old and havent had actual loft checked) and last season used a 52, 56, 60 setup. so between the PW and 52 there is a 3 degree gap, but a 20 yard difference in distance. All my other clubs have a 10 yard distance gap but 4 degrees between them. is this normal?
