For those that carry a 60deg wedge

I guess it just depends on what you need for the course you are playing.

My standard set-up last year for my home course was:

Driver
13* 3W
17* Hybrid
20* Hybrid
5i - PW (5i was 26* and 4* of loft going up to PW)
GW (52*)
SW (57*)
LW (60*)
Putter

The lofts worked out well where I had no real glaring gaps and it also worked out well for my home course.

I take my 3 wood out if I need the 60 or 64. I played 76 rounds of golf last year and hit my 3 wood less than 20 times (18 to be exact). You almost don't miss it and it will make you play smarter. Instead of trying to hit the green from 270 on a par 5 you will lay up ( I realize most WRX'ers can hit theirs 280 in the air) to a reasonable distance and hit a wedge on. Save you more strokes than you realize.

just wondering what clubs people have who carry a 60deg wedge. For me I can't seem to find room. I have a driver,3w, 2i hybrid, 3-pw, 52, and 56. That's 14 clubs and I can't really imagine dropping any. Usually I don't need all the loft of a 60 and if I do I can open up my 56 and hit flop shots easy enough, I'm just not sure what you guys do to carry a 60.

easy....drop the 56, carry a 58 and forget about the 60 because it really isnt necessary IMO. a 58 can be hit very high and land very soft given good technique.,My bag was very similar to yours not so long ago. i had 51, 56, and 60 and replaced the 56 and 60 w. the 58. I havent missed either the 56 or 60 at all..the 58 really covers those 2 clubs well and i am comfortable taking a full swing with it..the 60 not so much.

Base Set up see sig.:
D 9,5°, FW 13°, 2iron 17° , 4i (23°) to PW (46°) 52 (bent 1° strong to 51°) 56 60 Putter

or I take the 3iron in and leave the 4 iron out subject to longest Par 3 and wind conditions
or play full down to 56 and leave out 60 if bunkers are not firm and not a lot of tight lies expected and greens not too firm ( all in all very rare)

I use a 62 instead of a 60 and that just fits better in my line-up. If you are happy with you current set leave it just because everyone else is doing it.

Driver 9.5*
3wd 15*
2 iron -20*
3 iron-23*
4-iron-26*
5 iron- 30*
6 iron- 33*
7 iron- 37*
8 iron- 41*
9 iron- 45*
PW- 49*
SW-56*
LW_-62*
Putter

Helps that I play old school lofts that make my gaps much more reasonable.

I don;t carry a 60 anymore, but thought this may help
My set

Driver
3 wd
17* hybrid
24*hybrid - distance of a 3 iron but has a 4 iron loft.
4-pw pw is 48*
52
58
putter

I really like the 52 to 58 wedge combo. I used to carry 52, 56, 60..but I found myself struggling to decide which wedge to hit. 52 and 58 only dumb it down for me - helps me focus more on the shot

I play

driver (9 degree)

3 wood (14 degree)

2 iron - pw

54 degree wedge

60 degree wedge

I know the 7 degree difference ebtween my 47 degree PW and teh 54 degree SW is a bit more than desired (also the 6 degree difference between the 54 degree and 60 degree), but it was the only way I could think to try and keep reasonable gaps without dropping clubs.

I've never had a "I am getting rid of this" plan to carry my 60* bent to 59*. For a substantial period when I first took up the game I carried a 10.5, 9.5 and 8.5 Driver, (13*/15*) 3 & (18*) 5wd, 3-PW, 56 & 60; later switched to 9.5 Driver & 3 or 4wd, 48, 54 & 60, to my current setup of 9* driver, 16* 4wd, 18* 2i - PW(47) - SW(53) & LW(59) and putter = 14; since "07". Now my setup has everything to do with how far I carry each club, and course yardages I face. I am all about zippo dispersion and accuracy, plus I play face courses.

My 2cents - don't bother yourself, mostly because a 60* is NOT all that important to most golfers as they won't be able to find enough time to practice to make the club worthwhile. That said, 59* is my #1 club.

I play:
Driver
15* 3 wood
19* hybrid
3-P
54*
60*.

The 60 is a little excessive for me, and it has 8* of bounce. I'm seriously considering strengthening it to 58* and my 54* to 53*. I like to play a number of shots, and a 58 slightly open is the same as a 60. I rarely ever use the full loft, and after only having a 54* for 5 years, I probably don't even hit it more than 1 or 2 shots per round.

I drop a 3 iron, and I have my lofts configured between my hybrid and my 4 iron.

It's a distance I'm rarely needing to hit, and I can take some off, or add some to whichever club to get where I need to be.

That allows me to carry the 60*.. It's not a club I use THAT often, but I'm using it more and more as I'm playing and use it far more than I would say.. my 3 iron.

Although I will switch it out, and grab a 58*, and toss in the 3 iron, and I'll get creative with wedges then.

I will drop out my 6-iron and if a 6-iron shot comes up i will hit an easy 5 or go after a 7, i'm fine with either one of those shots. Its usually the 6-iron but sometimes i've dropped out the PW and covered it with my 9-iron and GW. The 60* always stays it has saved me too many times to stay home..

i carry a

1. driver
2. 3w
3. 19deg hybrid
4. 19deg driving iron
10. 4-pw
12. 50
13 57
14 PUTTER

i used to carry a 60 but decided to use a 57 and can open it anyway so dropped it in favor of a 19deg iron which i use for accuracy pinseeking shots, the 19 hybrid will ve generally for the rough. even with my game, my most least used club is the 57. the 50 and pw are what i use around the green.

I used to play a 52, 56, 60 setup. I switched to a 53, 58 degree setup 8 or 9 years ago. I have found that there is nothing I could do with a 60 degree wedge that I can't do with the 58.

Very true, I know I might be able to get by with a 52*/53* and or a 56*/58*. But with these new PW's at 45*, the 3 wedge setup just made more sense to me. And I know how to use the 60*, which made the decision that much easier to throw it in the bag.

Driver G15/Kai'Li Avg about 240, but long ones get to 300...problem is the frequency of straight balls is low
15 Adams Super Hybrid Good to hit like a 3W or a long iron. Can also use it off the tee if I only need 225ish to hit a dog leg or a lay up but want to be in the fairway
19 Adams Super Hybrid Good gap both to my 15 and to my 4i
4-P + S Rapture V2 Green Dot
Vokey 52 - about 100-110
Vokey 60 full swing 90....down to short stuff and most shots around the green - my most used club
