I think I'm in the 160 to 180 or so range. I've played in the following countries:

USA
Mexico
UK (England, Scotland and Wales)
Ireland
France
Spain
Portugal
Australia
so 8 different countries.

Far and away most of mine have been in the UK. I think I've probably played 100 courses there alone. In the US, I've played in Texas, Florida, South Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Favourites vary by country. In the UK, probably Royal St Georges, Turnberry, Muirfield, Sunningdale, Walton Heath and St Andrews. Turnberry top of that list. In Ireland, Ballybunion and Waterville. In the US and top spot anywhere would be Pine Valley, bar none. Honourable mention to Bethpage Black, Lake of Isles, Merion and the TPC at Sawgrass. Harbour Town is good fun too, although the greens are ridiculously small.

Im pretty sure Ive played well over 100 courses though Ive never counted.
My favorite far and away is Sand Hills Golf Club in Mullen, NE.
Honorable mention goes to National Golf Links, Pine Valley, Cypress Point, Shinnecock Hills, Prairie Dunes, Oakmont and Fisher's Island.

Can't believe I forgot Shinnecock - potentially my favorite...yeesh. would love to get out on sand hills someday...middle of freaking nowhere

I've got to think its somewhere between 100-125 in 18 states and 9 countries...

Without a doubt, I'd put Chicago Golf Club, Old Head, Pebble Beach, Monterey Peninsula C.C. and Cabo Del Sol(Ocean) as my top five.

While I have numerous other favorites, I think these few most easily come to mind as some I'd play over and over and over...

The Experience at Koele on the island of Lanai
Ballybunion
Stewart Creek up in Canmore, Alberta, Canada
Turnberry
The Old Course
Butler National
Medinah #3

I played Oak Hill when I was around the age of 14- can hardly say I was aware of my surroundings but I'm sure I had fun nonetheless...

There are so many great courses out there you owe it to yourselves to play as many as possible.

This doesn't have to be expensive but aim to play at least six courses every year that you haven't played before including one really good one.

Remember though, even the worst courses generally have one or two good holes that are worth the money.

Pesonally, best courses i've played Ganton and Royal Lytham (Open Championship venue) both of which are former Ryder Cup venues.

Not sure exactly, probably 75 plus. 13 states and 4 countries outside the U.S.

Most memorable would be Inverness CC in Toledo, and Torrey Pines. Used to play Torrey twice a month, like clockwork when I lived over there.

Primary bag:
Titleist 913 D3 8.5
Titleist 915Fd 13.5
Titleist 913h 17
Mizuno MP-18 4-PW
Scratch wedges 50, 55, and 60
Bettinardi mid-shank putter

Backup bag:
Ping G400 9
Ping G30 fw 13
Ping G30 hybrid 19
Ping iBlade 4-PW power spec
Macgregor VIP wedges 51, 56, and 60

I voted for the 50-70. I really have no idea, but I imagine it could be getting closer to that 100+ number. My big name courses that I've played are Medinah #3, Olympia Fields, and Kiawah Island Ocean Course. Some lesser known courses that I have played and really liked are Dismal River in Mullen, NE, Arbor Links in Nebraska City, NE and Chicago Highlands which just recently opened.

I loved the Ocean Course, but the condition was sub-par from what I expected. That course is just beautiful.

Between 5 and 6 hundred i think...

Some of the best were The Links of North Dakota, Redwood Meadows in Alberta, Oak Valley in the Inland Empire, Minot Country Club North Dakota, Torry pines is good but never in good shape.

I tend to like tree lined courses and anything with perfect greens. A lot of the famous courses I've played seem a little overrated to me but that's just an opinion.

Just under 100 at last count and about 10 countries, if you count 9 holes on the Ross Sea Ice Shelf in Antartica

I've played between 575 and 600 courses, 28 US States, Canada, Scotland and England. I used to keep a list of each course including the first date I played it and who I played with. My computer crashed and I lost the list. sad.gif

About five years ago I started collecting logo balls from each course I play. I have logo balls from more than 400 courses I've played in cases in my den and office. I also started photographing courses I've played and have photographed more than 300. I wish I started that earlier. Here's a link to my pix:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/golfcoursepix/sets/

Hard to narrow down just a few favorites... Turnberry Ailsa, Western Gailes, Sunningdale Old, Prestwick, Walton Heath, Ballyneal, Sleepy Hollow, Bethpage Black, Garden City Mens, Merion, Olympic, Wolf Creek, Golden Horseshoe Gold.

Here's a link to my favorite public access courses in a few geographic regions where I've played a bunch of courses: Favorite Courses

I've never kept track of the number of different courses I've played. My quick estimate is about 500-600 around the world. (I really don't want to calculate how much time and money I've spent playing golf! lol).

BTW, I also have LOTS of logo balls (mostly top courses/clubs) and want to downsize my collection and liquidate most of them. I would be interested hearing via PM from those interested in acquiring them (could also include 2-3 walnut display stands). Not free, but reasonable. (I don't want to spend a lot of time picking out and/or sorting them). Economies of scale apply.

Favorite golf courses: Obviously a difficult choice, maybe Cypress Point, Pine Valley, Merion, L.A.-North, Riviera, Winged Foot, Royal County Down, Royal Dornoch, Ballybunion, Sunningdale, Walton Heath. I don't know; too many variables and different factors to rank.

In the United States, I've played in 33 states. Around the world I've played:
Europe
Netherlands
Germany
Belgium
Spain
Portugal
Switzerland
Ireland
Scotland
England
N. Ireland
Luxembourg
France
North America
USA
Canada
Mexico
Bahamas
Bermuda
Puerto Rico
U.S. Virgin Islands
Domincan Rep
Asia
Indonesia (Bali)
Africa
Morocco
South America
Brazil

Just back from a quick 4 days in Phoenix, played 9 rounds, adding to my collection of logo golf balls. I have 595 now. Have actually played more courses as I didnt start the collection right away. Prob another 50-100 maybe?
Have them in racks of 25. Try to keep them organized by favorites, but every time I play another really fab course, the trickle down of re-organization is awfull. I think I will put in them into location instead.
Top course, its a toughy.... If I have to pick, Muana Kea, on the big island. But there are so many, Pebble, Tobacco Road, Forest Dunes, Spyglass, I could go on and on.

Going to Oregon in June. My son's a caddy at Bandon Dunes. I'm going to play at least 3 of the courses. I'll hold off judgement on my fav. course until I get back from this expedition! He got to caddy for Pres. Clinton and Vijay in the same foursome a couple years ago.
I'm in the 70+ range as far as courses played.
