CALLY RAZR HAWK TOUR - COURSE REVIEW

Recommended Posts

I tried the RHT, and really wanted to like it, but I just don't care for the sound of it. I also didn't like the looks of it compared to my DET, which I used all last year. I am a Callaway fan and play the DET In my fairway woods. Currently trying a G15 driver and 910 to see if my DET with motore F3 gets let go.

Well, i have a G15 and was looking at a new shaft for it. So went to my local store yesterday and decided to try other drivers, Next thing you know i was scheduled for a fitting at callaway, this driver was great, great feel great sound and very long for me. Awesome job by callaway on this driver. Gonna get fit next week and should get it before the end of the month. Can't wait !!!

STILL have it
STILL the most powerful driver I have own (legal)
STILL the best wind ignoring / spin killing driver I own
STILL longer than any R11 I have tried - or anything lately for that matter
STILL as solid as when I first received it

I must say I got to play in a scramble a few weeks back and one guy had an 8.5 RHT / Ilima 70X ... THAT was an awesome combo. A tad more spin - just carried 10 miles - Smmmooooottthhhhhh ... I liked it a lot

 Ya ya......I hear that a lot on the WRX that a certain driver is "10-15" longer than the next. "On Solid drives" if the RHT was 10-15 longer than ANY other driver out there every tour guy would be playing one.
[/quote]

I subscribe to your line of thinking, and I agree. But the RHT is longer in my hands than the 910 by an AVERAGE of 7-8 yards. This means that sometimes they are equal and sometimes the RHT is further by up to 15 yards. I own both. I really like both drivers.

My RHT has the stock RIP shaft chopped down to 45"

My 910 D2 is also 45" with UST V2 76g shaft in it. I also have an Ahina for it - but the UST V2 is better.

Yeah I agree and I guess I should rephrase my statement to "with spin and launch numbers being equal" they should be close on distance. I can see if you have a 910 and try every shaft on the planet and can't get spin below lets say 2800 and then you pick up a RHT and get the spin to 2200.....THEN I can believe it will be 15 longer. BUT if you can get equal numbers out of both then distance will be close.

I really think theres something to the composite body tech. I think it lets the head flex and return energy just as they claim + theres no extra moving parts to dampen vibration/loose energy in the transfer giving it max yards for the technology. I was hoping titleist, who were the ones that claimed this about the TMs originally wouldnt give in, but they did. Cally went away from it and are doing better than ever with the FT tour and RZR tour - just wow. Well done cally!

  • 3 weeks later...

This is IT! The Razr Hawk Tour was 23 yards longer than my R11 TP.

With the RH Tour/Speeder 652 x, tipped 1/2" @ 44.5", I was getting nearly identical smash factors as the R11 TP/Fubuki 70x @ 44.75". The RH Tour is 8.5*, the R11 is set at 9* upright. Lousy smash factor of 1.42, so that's something I will work on improving.

LA: RH Tour was a 13*, R11 was at 15*.
Spin: RH Tour was at 2300 rpm, R11 was at 3700 rpm.
Angle of descent: RH Tour was much flatter, producing more roll.

I ended up at at 293 yards with the RH Tour, and 271 yards with the R11 TP.

Whoa.. Completely eye opening, and my buddy who's a great fitter so that it was no contest, just by eyesight.

Me and the RH Tour... :partytime2::partytime2:

The RHT is a beast. I can't say enough good things about the head.

That being said, I am not in love with the RIP. I think it plays soft to flex and I just can't get on board. Also, I am in the "shorter driver = more fairways" camp and can't find the center of the clubface enough with the 45.5" shaft.

Would love to hear some other shaft combinations you guys have found to work well with the RHT.

Hey guys..... I know I've said that I'm dying to reshaft my RHT......so I'm just gonna DO IT. I'm planning to go with a Kai'li 80 gram in X and play it at 45". I've used the stock RIP extensively and I can't really say anything bad about it. It definely works. I'm hoping to get some more consistency though out of a heavier shaft.

Once I get it all done up, I'll be sure to post back with my results.

So far though......I love this driver! Hope I don't ruin it by re-shafting it......

Well. I game the Speeder 652 and it's awesome. So so smooth. I've hit one with the Diamana WB 73 stiff and it was money. Also, the Motore F1 65 stiff. I really liked that too. And the V2 76 x. That was a beast as well. This head just works well.

I'm pleasantly surprised by how low launch and spin this head is - I'm trying a 9.5* with an Ahina 70X from my old 8.5* SF TP 1.0, and I swear I'm hitting it lower than the SF TP despite the 1* difference in loft.

I couldn't agree more.

I went from a 9.5* Supertri to a 10.5* RHT. The Supertri hit high bombs but just never felt confident in windy conditions (which we get a lot here). Got my hands on the RHT and it just hits low(er) screamers.

I haven't had an opportunity on a monitor to check the spin numbers but on the course I feel I am getting much more roll than I have before.

I don't know the tweaking differences between the Fubuki Alpha 60 shaft and the original Fubuki 63, but I've been gaming a RAZR Hawk driver with the Fubuki in it. Even at 45 inches in length, the RAZR Hawk is 10+ yards longer than the R11 with the Alpha in it. Driving balls with the RAZR....is it me or does the ball roll forever when it lands.

The stock RIP in the RAZR really didn't feel right or performed. So I took the gamble with a Fubuki reshaft in the RAZR and it paid off.

Thats funny. I've thought about doing the same thing. Getting another 8.5* and putting my Fubuki Tour 63 in it. That would be a sick combo. Just sick!

Puppet.....I tried an octane tour 8.5 (stealth head) with the ahina in 60g in stiff tipped .75". The flight was quite low, but I figured that I would get a higher flight with my RHT 9.5. Right now, with the stock RiP, I can hit the ball quite high. Would you agree.

Quiros, according to the Callaway website, uses the Razr Hawk Tour and not the regular Razr Hawk. On his website, which isn't updated, it also shows that he was previously using the Ft 5 ttour and not the regular FT 5. I picked up a RHT today and it looks very square to me. I also picked up a used FT 9 tour to try out as well. Wonder how they'll compare? Find out tomorrow.

Well. I can definitely say that it was 100% clear from photos I saw and TV I watched at this years Master's that he was using the regular Razr Hawk, not the Tour. There was no hosel. Oh. You'll like both. FT 9 Tour begs to go straight. The RH Tour does too, although you can sleep on it. Lol
