R7 Forged Irons

What a wonderful set of irons this is...!!!

You may be interested that I have just received my new set of R7 Forged Irons with NS Pro 950 R yesterday and I went to the range to try them out...

What a beauty to look at address!! So I just started to hit a 9 iron to get a bit used to the set and man... I did not need that too many balls (10) to realize how good these babies are!!! Ball jumps from the face high and straight like an arrow and the distance I get is at least one and half club more than with my Titleist 775CB (even the titleist are one or two degrees less lofted than the TM R7).

After 150 balls hit with other irons up to the 4, it was exactly the same thing... long, straight and soft like butter.

Only the 3 iron was a problem for me (but this is with every set of iron I have ever had) as I could not be able to get it straight and a slice was the result of my first 8 or 10 shots before I gave up... I will keep my Rescue Dual in the bag until I will be more confident with the 3 iron

I will include the photographs of this set when I will post the wimb before the end of this week!

Very nice to hear reports on this beauty of an Iron...Can you tell us the size of these heads(I'm always a bit weary of the Japananese irons being on the small size..aka mr23's.) what would you compare it too?

Not just look, you have no idea how forgiving they are (I actually forgot to mention this)...

Miss hits from the center did not loose much distance, but you will feel it in your hands...

When hit on the sweet spot (or close to hit) you feel absolutely nothing and you can hear a "swoosh" sound that means you have nailed it and there you go...

Yes, it is a small head... I would compare its size to Titleist 695 CB Irons. But believe me the small head is compensated by the forgiveness of this iron... I could only get this kind of ball flight with a game improvement iron set like the R7 XD! Even with my Titleist 775CB (which are oversized compared to the R7 forged) the ball stayed too low for my swing (I have a low trajectory kind of swing)

Looks like TM's version of the new Callaway forgings only with the weight notch reversed. As good as the Callaways look I like those better---probably because they are all shiny chrome.

Look like the protos that Rose and Funk played for a while last year. Also a little TourStage flair to them.

I have checked and they do lefty! Only custom order from Japan... You have to find the source (agent) in Asia that can help you.

I can give you some more information as I will ask to the local agent in Taiwan if you want.

You are wellcome! Yes they are probably the best set of irons I have ever seen...

There were 4 sets in the Pro Shop where I bought them and they were gone in 3 days

I was thinking to change the shaft with Project X! I tried yesterday a set of Miura with Project X and that shaft felt amazing!!!

With the spider web muscle in the cavity they ALMOST remind of the 300's w/ the muscle bar, hey it worked great once, why not again.

Saw a few sets on eBay. Search: "R7 forged". But get ready to empty your wallet.

 

BTW, did you notice the lie angle on yours, do they seem standard or upright? I heard a rumor that Japanese spec irons are upright.
