Great collection. How do you find the yururi wedges against your others?
So far, so good. I like them as much, if not more, than my Miura wedges. I'm still getting used to them though. I've always just run DG wedge shafts or C-Taper 9-iron shafts in my wedges. With the Yururi wedges I went with 8-iron shafts instead (soft stepped twice, AKA "Tiger-stepping") which gives them a slightly different feel and touch more spin. I feel as if I they are little "hotter" this way too but that may be due to the slightly softer feel, I can't say for sure. I've been putting them in play as much as possible and am slowly getting used to them. I like them enough that I have been considering getting another pair (I'd like a 2 wedge setup in addition to my 3 wedge setup, talk about confusing my wedge game).

Thank you! I absolutely love them. Easily my favorite irons ever.

Had the chance to tee it up with Rebby yesterday in a charity benefit. Good guy, and solid player.

what/where/how in the world did you come across that red white and blue super rat? That thing has to have an amazing story behind it. I'd love to hear it.

It's not really an interesting story, unfortunately. I know a guy who has access to tour putters and put him on watch for a naked Super Rat without a COA. Bought it from him when he finally found one and sent it off to the Custom Shop to have it reconfigured to my specifications (length/lie/loft/grip/etc). I also had them redo the paint scheme. When I first got the putter it had the "default" Super Rat paint scheme. Since I love my RWB ButtonBack (and get so many comments on it), I HAD to have something similar done to my SuperRat, what you see in the pics (and on the COA) is the result. I really wanted the RWB reflected on the COA which is why I wanted one without the COA from the start. I've been bagging the SuperRat for the vast majority of my rounds this year, it's not an easy one to swap out, that's for sure.

You've got one of the best bags on here Rebby. Really enjoyed the thread about the black ox transformation. How do you like the 1957 2 iron? Some people may flame me, but I found the Tournament Blades and the Baby Blades surprisingly easy to hit. However, I didn't hit above a 4 iron.

You take great pictures, wish more people held the same standard, especially for this forum.

Thanks for the compliments on the photos. I'd like to say that I do my best but, quite honestly, I usually end up snapping photos as quick as I can when I get a few minutes to spare. I'd love to see what I'd end up with if I put some time/attention into it. I'm a bit of a hobby-ist photographer with quality gear so I'm sure that helps quite a bit.

I really like the 2-iron. It's probably one of my favorite clubs actually. A smaller club head really forces me to concentrate and when you combine a very small club head, with 18-19' of loft (depending on what I feel like when I'm setting lie/loft) and a 39.5" shaft, it REALLY FORCES you to concentrate. I'm sure that concentration has a lot to do with how well I hit it. It's a great alternative to a 5-wood in the proper conditions and I find that I reconfigure the "top" of my bag quite a bit. It's either 3-wood/5-wood or 4-wood/2-iron (which is my preference).

Amazing collection! How does the black oxide finish hold up? It looks great.
It holds up exactly as you'd expect black oxide to hold up, that is, it "wears in" and develops "character". LOL, mine aren't too bad though since if I'm just beating balls on the range I'm very likely swinging my factory-Chrome 1957s.

Thanks! I'm usually back and forth. With my schedule, my kids, and recent MN weather, July has really been the start of my golf season for the past few years. It's hard to get myself to WRX much when my clubs aren't doing much more than looking pretty in the corner of my office. I'm finally getting back into the swing of things for this season, albeit slowly, work has been a MAJOR time sink. I tend to spend a lot more time practicing than playing though. I guess that's somewhat of a good thing?

Yeah, I was going to at some point w/my updates. I'm not quite ready to do that though. I'm working on a build that might kick out my baby blades for a round or two. Yep, they're that good (well, I hope they're that good anyway). Also picked up a new driver this spring so need to get that on the list. Switched to the TEE CB Pro FW woods too so I need updated pictures. No new Camerons but I'm still looking for a 009 and a Classic I.

I grabbed a few sets of Hogan irons last year too, 1999 Apex blade, 2003 Apex blade, & 2006 Apex blade. I'll probably give the 1999s to my brother but I'm keeping the other 2. The 2006s are absolutely stunning. They remind me of the 1973s (I think I got all those dates right, I'm flying by the seat of my pants here).

Snapped that one up on TCC. I have a really hard time finding CT putters sans sight lines and dots. I strongly prefer the clean look so it's worth the extra effort. I really like the Tour Rat but prefer the feel of the insert on the Super Rat.

Under $1000? - Maybe if they're hot and the seller doesn't know what they have or, it's a fake. I've been able to come close to the $1,000 mark once but that was for my CT TeI3 which, although much more rare than an 009 or rat, isn't as sought after. For a rat or 009 you're going to be much closer to $2,000 on the low end (the sky is the limit for the high end). Good luck!

Also started a thread with this exact content here -> http://www.golfwrx.c...gan-precisions/

Just thought that I'd post a few pics of my Hogan Precisions. This set is 2 - Equalizer and was refinished by the previous owner at The Iron Factory. I bought them as heads only and put a set of KBS Tour V X-flex shafts in them (straight in). I built the 5-iron to play at 37.5" and 32' with 1/2"/4' steps between clubs. This makes them exactly 1 club "weaker" than my 1957's (thus, my Hogan 7-iron is roughly the same as my Miura 8-iron). Yes, I am aware that these are the "incorrect" ferrules, I just used the "closest fit" of what I had on hand at the time (besides, I really like the black/red striped ferrules).

I took the 7-iron out to hit a few balls with last week but simply can not wait to get them on the course. I absolutely loved what I was getting out of the 7-iron and believe that I just might have a set that could see regular course use rather than being a "novelty wall hanger" set of irons.

Anyway, here are a couple of pics. I didn't grab any of the grooves but they are not "box grooves".

precision.jpg

precision23.jpg

I believe that these are "short hosel" Precisions but don't know much more than that about them. Any additional information that you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Updates?

On what, the car or the clubs? The car is coming along but I'm going to assume that you're more interested in the clubs, this being GolfWRX and all. ;)

Here are a few quick snapshots. I'll update the first post of this thread later.

First the group iron shot. From right to left; black oxide 1957, 1957, 2006 Hogan Apex, 2003 Hogan Apex, black oxide Titleist 681, PING Eye2 (high school irons), Hogan Precision. My primary "gamer" irons are the 1957's, either set really but I do prefer the black ones. Both sets are shafted with KBS C-Tapers in S+. The 2006 Hogans have S300's and the 2003's have Apex 4's (both factory). The 681's have C-Tapers in X. The Eye2's have the factory PING shaft although, at this moment, I don't remember the exact details. The Precisions have KBS Tour V's in X but, due to the 1950's lofts, the 7 iron has the same loft as my 1957 8-iron so it's actually built as an 8-iron (loft/length/lie). Thus, that makes the Tour V's "soft stepped" despite the number on the sole.

_5D_2192.jpg

Here is how my bag usually sits when I head off to the course. Quick summary of the current make up; Callaway 815 DBD w/Speeder 757 X, TEE CB Pro 16.5' w/Speeder 757 X, 1957 2 iron, 1957 4-PW, Yururi Tour 52/56/60 (bent to 52/57/62), Cameron Super Rat @ 33". Taz is there to protect my sticks. Who would mess with him??? On the other side of the towel Taz is chilling with a golf club thus exemplifying the gamut of emotions one experiences over the course of a round.

_5D_2252.jpg

My Super Rat is currently hiding behind a Cru head cover w/my initials. I have a bunch of Cameron's that get bag time though, see post #1 for the details.

_5D_2255.jpg

This spring there is a very good chance that I'll finally be replacing my Yonex Ezone 380. Here are the contenders; Callaway Alpha 815 DBD and Nike Vapor Flex, both with a Speeder 757 X @ 44.375". Thus far I'm very impressed with both. I was surprised to find that I launch the Flex a little lower than the DBD. Based on everything that I'd read about the DBD, I really expected it to be the other way around. It's still a little early to pic a winner so stay tuned.

_5D_2257.jpg

Finally here is a family pic of my TEE CB Pro's. Sadly, the 17.5' is still in transit (I finally found one!) so that one is absent from this pic. I picked up the 15.5' over the winter which is why that one is still sporting it's plastic wrap. All of them are shafted with X flex Speeder 757's as well. I'm well known to mix up the "top part" of my bag from round to round depending on course and conditions (FW woods and 2-4 irons). Having the full gamut of CB Pro's gives me a whole range of options depending on what I'm after (or how I'm feeling that day).

_5D_2259.jpg

There you have it, my (current) WITB in a nutshell. For pics of the Super Rat and much better pics of most everything else, go back to post #1.

I couldn't agree more!

Your post also reminded me that I have a set of Hogan Channelbacks too (heads only). I've been meaning to sell those but my 9 year-old is using the E at the moment and absolutely thrilled to have a Hogan in his bag. I think it would break his heart if I sold them, at least if I didn't get him an adequate replacement for that E.

I've been clearing out things here and there. Just a few weeks ago I rebuilt my 1999 Hogan Apex blades and my TEE CB5 4-wood and gave them to my brother. Needless to say he's very happy with me at the moment. I have a laundry list of other things that I'm going to clear out as well. Everything from random shafts to my old 909F3 fairway woods. Now that I have the Precisions, all of my other Hogans are up for grabs as well (Channel backs, 2003 Apex, 2006 Apex). I'll likely be selling the 681's as well. Time to get an ad put together for the BST. Maybe I'll have some time tonight? Who am I kidding? I've been saying that for 2 months! ladahl, do you guys do consignment? ;)
