Golf courses to play near Chattanooga, TN

I will be coming to visit my brother in Chattanooga,TN in November and i was wanting to know of any good courses to play at while im there. I am willing to drive a short distance for the right course.. Thanks

I made a couple weekend trips up to Chattanooga and two courses I would recommend are The Bear Trace at Harrison Bay and Canyon Ridge. The Bear Trace is a little north of Chattanooga. Canyon Ridge is in the Northwest tip of Georgia but an easy drive from Chattanooga. They have townhomes you can rent and is a nice place for a stay and play weekend of golf.

Second the bear trace. If you can swing it I'd try 1) the honors course, pretty private but a top 50 us course 2) lookout mtn cc, private old Seth raynor design 3 )Chattanooga g&cc, my home course great conditioning. 4) nob north , south of town. Fun Garyplayer co-design. Inexpensive. Hope that help. Also there are two or three RTJ course within a two hour drive.

If you are looking for something out of the norm, check out Eagle's Bluff. Lots of elevation changes.

Bear Trace is nice and in very good condition. Barnsley Gardens is about an hour from Chattanoga and is a great layout. You could try to get on at Tennessee National(Norman course) in Loudon as well. The Honors Course is a treat but as mentioned above VERY private! Enjoy...

I wish i could get on, i grew up playing there but have yet to join myself. i call it my home course b/c i still take lessons there and practice there. Barnsley is nice theve had some trouble witth their greeens in the heat so id call and see how they are, but a nice fun course. theres another bear trace course in crossville thats a lot of funa s well. bout an hour / hour and half drive. good luck!

Valleybrook is a good track, shot makers course, Brainerd GC is a Donald Ross design, public, only problem is no practice range. Let me know if you want to play when you are here.

My guess is if you are asking here you want public courses. Not many quality public courses in town. Simply put Bear Trace courses are the better choices - harrison bay (north of town) Cumberland Mountain and Tim's Ford (1.5 hours depending on where you start your trip) I'd stay away from Eagle Bluff, poor conditions and I've never liked the layout. Canyon Ridge is a good mountain layout (except 2 holes) but conditions were spotty over the hot summer still better than Eagle Bluff. Haven't been since it has cooled down. Nob North is a good municipal track less than an hour south of town.

If you are calling favors to get onto private courses I'd go with:

The Honors - Ooltewah, Tn (good luck)
Chattanooga Golf & Country Club
Lookout Mountain Country Club
The Farm - Rocky Face, Ga (also good luck)

Well all, while i was in Chattanooga, my brothers and i went to play Nob North golf course and i must say even thought the weather was not the best and it is late in the season i really like the course a lot. Im from Oklahoma so the scenery was beautiful, love all the tall trees, and elavation change. I would really like to come back and play this course in the spring when everything is green and the sun is shining all day. I wish i could get onto the Honors course and play all the good courses around the area. Nob Norh is probably in my top 3 courses i have ever played...so far.

I got to this thread a little late, but yeah, I was going to recommend Nob North. Fun course and rather affordable.
