I do not think this has been brought up yet and it's only a thought.

With a fair amount of OR. Members being interested in playing and having to drive a fair amount of time, how about a possible 2 day event (1 or 2 days optional) one day being close to Or. and the other at The Home Course?

This way, if the Or. Guys just want to play closer to home one day they can and the same for the Wa. Guys. Everyone would have the option playing both days.

Or a two day event at one local, but I would guess a Resort type course would be needed for this to happen so that we have a place to stay over night. I cannot really think of a good resort not far off the I-5 corridor.

I think that there is a new Hotel at the Home Course exit, maybe play there Sat. And Chambers or the new Shelton course on Sunday.

Just some thoughts guys

Green fees will be just shy of 50$ most likely. For TMBOB, I would love to make it a 2 day event with one course closer to OR. My only concern with that is I need to have a really precise headcount for the Saturday event, and if we have a second day I worry there will be a lot of OR guys backing out of the first day event. Not saying it will happen, but it is the first thing that I thought of. You have a great point about the hotel issue, I didnt even think that some people who have driven far will end up at a hotel for the night. Depending on bankrolls I have done a little research into a possible 2 day type deal. If you were to stay at the Little Creek resort (Salish Cliffs) and play Salish in the morning it would be about 200$ per person for a room and golf. Another option is to stay at a cheap hotel in the same area as the Home Course and play Chambers on Sunday for 109$. Both of these costs are dependant on a March/April tourney. Honestly, for me I am leaning towards a March tourney. This way we can get in before they punch the greens. How does everyone feel about that?

Why don't we try to find a couple courses in the middle. Portland area is littered with courses. If that is too far south then I'm still down with tacoma area I have a place to stay!

Unfortunately, its either the Or guys drive 3 hours to wa or 1 hour to a "middle course" or the seattle guys drive 3 hours to Or or 1 hour to a "middle course". But hey, this is all up to vote, I thought we had the course locked down but if everyone wants to change, then I will change it.

Edit: I just want to clarify that my only motivation is to get the most people possible to participate and have a great time. So whatever location allows that is my location of choice.

EDIT: I just talked to my parents and they would be willing to pay half of my greens fees for the tournement.
Is it possible to be in the tournement without "The Championship Experience"? Could I book my tee time at chambers for ~$80, THC for ~$20 (junior), and then at Gold Mountain (my home course) and still play in the tournement?

Hey Mack, everything other than the Saturday at The Home Course is going to be extra, as in not part of the main event. Everyone is welcome to play wherever they like on Friday and Sunday, but Saturday is going to be the official tournament day. This is one thing, as the organizer, I feel strongly about. I dont want to scare anyone off thinking they have to pay for and get the time off for a 3 day tournament.

Okay, so I wouldn't even have to play at Chambers? Awesome, that works alot better for me! [quote name='whitefro' timestamp='1318815629' post='3681067']

I was just thinking that I bet I have unknowingly golf with some of you. So I am looking forward to this event.
I favor March personally. Also if you are still considering a course here in PDX, I'd suggest Stone Creek for that time of year. I've always found THC to drain very well, so I have no problem with that place in the winter.

Suggestion

1) 2 man scramble or Bestball 7 shot dif 1 Oregon and 1 Wa.
2) 4 man scramble 2 OR 2WA
3) Ryder Cup style OR vs WA

1 and 3 are Great casual games for people who do not know their partners to well

don't know how this got by me - there are about 5 guys on wrx (that i know have not seen this thread) that i regularly play or practice with that would all be interested.

thanks for getting this started.

regardless of if there is a game, side game, etc... it would be fun to meet and greet and put some faces to screen names.

After looking at your profile I've concluded that my good buddy Blaine C. used to worked with you. I'm David btw, although I don't think we have met we know each other by association. I bet I know a few more people in this forum, it's going to be great when we get together for this tournament and all you hear are things like: "Larry what the hell are you doing here?" "John!, WTF!? I'm Mr4putt on WRX!"

TMBob I love the Ryder Cup idea! I think that would be fun, 6 holes best ball, 6 holes alternate shot, 6 holes match play. Or something like that. I'm just excited to get out and meet some more golfers.
