Scotty Cameron Newport 2.6 Customized by Vibrant Golf

I just got my Scotty Cameron Newport 2.6 back from Vibrant Golf today. The glare really bothered me so I had it refinished in flat black and also had a flat black shaft put in.

 

Interested to hear feedback on this.

I game a 2.6 as well and I love it.

What sort of finish is that? It seems to have filled in all the milling and the letters on the sole.

I thought that the PutterLounge had thick finishes until I saw this one's sole. WOW!
Personally, I like the blacked out putters, done in flat black base, but this finish is wayyyyyyyy to thick for my taste.
If you like it and it puts well, I hope you make every single 10'er that comes your way.

What was the cost on somethin like this? Looks cool IMO. Nice putter

Cost was about $130. The majority of it was the head refinishing which is different than I was expecting. I didnt expect it to be so thick.

I like it! But the paintfill on the cherry bombs looks a little shoddy IMO

Cool looking putter. I like the black shaft and red grip. The thickness of the finish is a bit concerning though, as is the roughness of the paintfill. It would be nice to still see the mill marks.

I love black finishes on putters but that looks kind of thick. what finish is that?

Maybe it's just the pics, but the paint fill looks pretty rough.

Sorry man, but all this did was ensure me to never have them refinish a putter of mine. As long as you like is all that matters but to me it looks like, as another said, a can of Krylon was used and the paint fill isn't very good either.

It looks uneven. The thickness on the lettering on the bottom is off. I like the flat black, but it is not my favorite.

Not to pile on, but why would they have not refinished the Scotty red dots as well?? I would send it back and ask them to take off a few layers of paint and fill the red dots. Not right.

The bigger question is how does it roll??

I would be pretty unhappy if I had paid $130 for that job - IMO, the finish is waaay too thick. However, if you like it, my opinion is not important!

The finish is way too thick. It looks like a 14 year old got nutty with a can of spray paint. I would have it stripped.

BTW - the glass bead mix that Cameron uses on the Select line does leave it a bit shiny in the sun. However, a re-finish bead blasting by an aftermarket shop can have the finish dulled like most stainless steel putters.

The custom shop also offers a bead blasted finish that's not listed anywhere on the website.

Looks like they powdercoated it. I'd be willing to bet if you stripped it, the o-rings on the weights are fried.

the paintfill in the cavity just looks sloppy, and I'm not a fan of the coating covering the milling. As another poster posted...it looks like a See-More.

BUT if it rolls the ball in the hole then it's good!

Let me start by saying that Vibrant Golf was great to work with. They responded quickly to all of my emails. No problems with their customer service at all. I had seen a member on here post pictures of a fastback that had been refinished in the flat black so I decided to do that with my Newport. The glare on it can be flat out blinding if the sun hits it just right. I also just thought that it looked cool.

I couldnt wait to open the box to check out my putter yesterday. When I opened it and remove the headcover I was very disappointed. I didnt think the paint fill was done well at all. I figured that they would also paint fill the weights on the bottom. That's my fault though for not clarifying exactly what I wanted done. I just told them to surprise me with the faint fill.

I shouldve asked more questions before I sent the putter. I just assumed that I would still be able to see the milling on the face. As you can tell by the pictures...that is definitely not the case.

The most frustrating part was that the putter I sent was 33 inches and when I got it back it is now 35 inches. I'm kind of lost on what to do at this point. I'm trying to sell it on ebay right now and recoup some of my losses. I've got well over $400 into this thing now. I loved this putter too. Just hated the glare.

I don't mean to be negative, but I don't think you'll get near the $400 that you've put into it.

That is one of the worst re finishes i have seen, this looks like he has Powder coated it, all round awful job.
Shoot me a pm and we can get this sorted for no extra $.

There should be no gap. My guess is the powdercoat made the hosel too thick and the shaft wouldn't fit all the way down. Sloppy

ya for that much $ I'd be disappointed. As far as cosmetics it looks cool, but ya sorry it does look sloppy and the thickness over the milling would upset me. When I refinish mine (possibly) around Xmas, I'm thinking of going with Slighter. He quoted me a very good price for the work I want, and his work looks great

Bummer, I'll bet the feel got a little (lot) more clicky. Is that what their "vibracoat technology" for steel shafts is, then? powder coat?
