converts your std putter to a belly.....

Anyone try one of these? Only $40..... thinking of trying it. May install one in my Scotty Newport 2.

Yep.......I had ordered a cheap belly Putter off eBay just to try out. I loved it but it was a tad too upright for me. I had been using a 36" Guerin Rife 2 Bar Mallet. I bought the conversion kit since the lie of the Rife is adjustable. It took about 3 minutes to convert the Rife using the kit to a 45" belly putter. Wow....this is a great putter. After a few adjustments to the lie angle of the Rife this thing is money. Lots of confidence from 5-6ft in. No worries about blowing it 3-4 ft past the hole, knowing you can make it coming back.

4-5 rounds with the conversion kit and I'm ready to convert it to a permanent USGA legal belly putter. This is done by removing the old grip and the conversion kit top grip, replacing the small spacer with a full length supplied sleeve and applying a new grip (not included).....I have NO idea why this makes the conversion kit USGA legal, but it does.

Had a 28 putt round earlier this week. Had a 32 putt round yesterday, which is about average for me. Had a bunch of 12" tap ins after just missing. The round could have been another 2-3 1 putts which would have had me in the 60's. I won't be going back to a regular putter. I'll just convert the Rife converted putter to the USGA legal belly putter.

If you don't like the belly putter after the conversion you just remove the kit, and then plug the hole in the end of your putter grip with the supplied plug and you have your old putter back.

I can't figure out how the sleeve is supposed to make the conversion conforming, but I do know that the grips must be changed in order to conform. The rules regarding putter grips basically say that if there are two grips; a) both must be round in cross section; b) the grips must be separated by a minimum of 1.5"; c) the top grip must be at least 5" long.

It is very simple to convert a STD to a belly. It took me a total 25 minutes minus plusepoxy curing time. Tools needed old shaft(preferably stepped). epoxy, means of cutting the old shaft (i used a pipe cutter) med grit sandpaper, tape measure, new grip and components. the grip is the only part i didn't have on hand. Its a fun little project.

How is everyone increasing the head weight in a conversion? Most belly's are 390 -400g vs 340-350 in std length. I did a conversion but it looks pretty Frankensteinish with all the lead tape. Just bought a "real" one and it is much more pleasing.

I was dissappointed in this product--waste of $40 IMO. Didnt feel solid, immediately took it out. +1 on the recommendation on the permanent conversion mentioned above.

I just did the permanent conversion on my Cleveland Classic #6 and I really dont feel the need to add weight to the head. It feels great and looks stock after I slapped a Winn belly putter grip on it.

I was just the opposite. I think it's a very good product. Feels very solid to me. Converted a Ping Sydney about a month ago and probably will not go back to a standard putter. To each his own, I guess.

As for adding weight, my Sydney is 350 grams and feels fine. I think you just have to try it out and give it a few days. Try gripping it high, low, cross hand, traditional what ever way you can think of. If you decide you need to add weight. Try Tungstun Powder. You can add 20 to 40 grams very easily with out messing up the balance of the putter.

I agree... solid product. But I did switch almost immediately to the real deal. I'd say find one that's used... heck, I'd sell mine.

Well for my conversion it was easy as I did it to an Itsy Bitsy. Added 24 grams with two 16"s and the head weight is up to 374 grams. The Spider Ghost belly is 360 grams and the Corza Ghost belly is 370 so I'm in the ballpark and the feel and roll of my "new" belly is awesome.

My guy at Custom Golf in Stamford, Connecticut did it for $20 in less than 5 minutes. Put the grip on I wanted, lie and length was perfect, if you are near there they are the best golf shop I've ever worked with, I go there for all my custom needs.

I'm in the process of converting an older TM Monsa Tourismo putter to a 43" belly putter. Where did you find the 16 gm weight cartridges? I've been looking on-line. There doesn't appear to be anyone selling heavier than 12 gm at reasonable prices. I'm aiming for 370 gm too based on TM's off-the-shelf belly putters.

Did you alter the lie angle at all? I see that TM's OTS models are the same lie as their standard putters, yet Odyssey's belly putter version of the Sabretooth is 2 degrees more upright.
