Best Bang for you Buck Golf Course in Phoenix/Tempe area

Hey guys, I am spending a few months in Tempe, Arizona and I want to know what the best "Bang for your Buck" courses are. I am aware of the very nice courses, but I am not looking to break my bank by playing them all of the time.

 

If there are some courses that have good twilight/super twilight rates, or are just a solid course for a great price let me know. I am partial to longer courses as I like to rip it off the tee. Thanks!

Wrong time of the year for a great deal,,winter season has started.

My advise,,step up and play TPC Scottsdale at least once,,you'll enjoy watching the Phoenix Open a lot more, for years.

You can play Vista Verde and Southern Dunes for under $50 in the afternoon by booking on golfnow and other on line sites. Those are two of my favorite courses in the region and as good as any of the more well known courses. I'd play them every day without complaint and not miss Troon North or TPC. Rancho Manana is pretty far north from Tempe, but a decent value at less than $40 for afternoon rounds.

Best bang for your buck IMO is referring to a good vaule, and I'd suggest Southern Dunes, Vistal, or Aguila. Southern Dunes is an awesome track, Vistal is supposed to be in GREAT shape right now and is under $40 walking.

Vistal can be had for cheap as well, and if you buy the Phoenix card, you get a free round and deep discounts at all City of PHX muni's and Papago.

TPC Stadium has got to be the most over rated, over priced track in Scottsdale.

It get's mixed reviews, but I always enjoy playing ASU. You can't beat the price.

Definitely Vistal if it's in good condition. Aguila, too.

I have to disagree on ASU being worth it right now. And I [b]definitely [/b]disagree with paying peak rates for TPC.

Aguila: Walking is even cheaper
The Duke: $35 and it is in very good shape
Southern Dunes
Vista Verde
TPC Champions Walking
Estrella Mountain
Poston Butte: Afternoons
Foothills: Fairways and greens are in pretty good shape now..$19.99 in afternoon and $9.99 for nine holes at very late.

I just got back 2 weeks ago from a trip to Mesa and played Longbow on Fore_lifes advice.......

This is one of my new favorite golf courses in Arizona! Golfnow'd it and got on for $38 with cart at 1:30 on a Friday.

Wekopa for sure. It's not cheap but nothing is this time of year. But it'll keep you talking and coming back.

I echo the Southern Dunes comments. Quite a good value course.

Wekopa is sick, one of my favorites, but for an out of state guy its gonna be super expensive!

"Bang for the buck" is indeed not just about price but value.

This term takes on a new meaning during the winter high season.

I echo the recommendations of Vista Verde and Southern Dunes. Two top tier courses that have very reasonable rates relative to the other top courses.

I'll put in a plug for the City of Mesa's Dobson Ranch, inexpensive, fun to play and typically maintained above average for a muni.

No way could Saguaro be called a bang for the buck course, but it is a Golf Week top 100 modern course that I consider one of the best publics in the state. If you are even thinking about spending the coin to play the TPC Stadium, please consider Saguaro instead. Find someone with an OB Sports Card and you can get the resident rate, in which case I recommend you play it THREE times instead of one round on the TPC.
