I'm checking prices for that same period right now. It seems many courses drop a little right after 4/1. It's not a lot but it better than paying full peak rates. I plan to book a few rounds now and also wait to fill in a few rounds as it gets closer using golfnow or ezlinks.

TPC and Troon N. are the two most overpriced venues in the valley. Plenty of good golf for more reasonable prices will be available in April.

I wish we could have the south west section just renamed South "book your round at some other place than tpc stadium" West, it would save so much time haha

May 1 is when you will see the more substantial price drops. I also concur TPC Stadium is overpriced and overrated.

I will be in the area from April 9th to 12th and again from 15th to 18th (with the Grand Canyon wedged in between) and I just checked McDowell Mountain (formerly Sanctuary), because it is on my list of possibilities, and they seem to have a (first) price drop after Easter, on April 9th, which suits me very well. Next price drop seems to be on May 21st.

BTW, has anybody played there recently?

And is anybody interested in playing there sometime in this period and on Wekopa Saguaro on Monday, April 16th, with a visitor from Vienna, Austria who has a Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde game from low 80s to mid 90s on any given day and who will probably struggle mightily on large Bermuda greens?

Edit: Wekopa also has a (slight) price drop on April 2nd.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.

Just wondering why Saguaro as I find Cholla to be way better having played both a few times albeit the former may be easier for your guest to handle

Troon had 3 big issues for me
Houses too close to course to appreciate any scenery
Very slow rounds
Having taken you for big $'s on green fees you have to have a forecaddy as a minimum in each group at an extra $120 PLUS $80 'strongly recommended gratuity'

That loads another $200 on for a guy I found to be of little use. Grayhawk was a much better experience and has got some of the best par 3's you will find anywhere

Most of the locals on this site have stated that they prefer Saguaro, especially for walking, so I thought of it as the first option, but I will probably try to play both anyway.
Oh, and I am said "guest" myself.

I know everybody keeps sayting that TPC Stadium is over-rated for the price but i saw here on the forum that you can get on the champions course walking for 50 bucks, True? Worth it?

Also, I've really been interested in playing Legend Trail during my trip out in March but have only been able to find rounds for $195. Anywhere to get cheaper rates? for that price wouldnt We-Po-Ka be a better course?

Appreciate this thread is for April, but for general knowledge I heard yesterday that TPC Stadium is tining the greens to 3/8" depth on 9th May. Don't know if other courses are following suit, but guess the tough growing conditions in the Valley are causing courses to start a mainetenance program a bit earlier this year

Everything that happens after April 20th is fine with me. A little egoistic, I know, but I will be travelling almost half way around the world to get there, so I would like nice conditions. :D
After acquiring more information, I am strongly considering a 36 hole day combining McDowell Mountain in the morning with a walking round at TPC Champions in the afternoon. That should work nicely, while my wife spends her day at the Talliesin Frank Lloyd Wright Center.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.

Have been reading loads of Phoenix threads and trying to find one to bump so this one works :)

Going to Phoenix first weekend in May and playing We-Ko-Pa Saguaro and the two 18s at Talking Stick (we're staying there).
Being a couple Pacific Northwest pasty Canadians, the main question is temperatures.
Due to flights we're playing at noon one day, but the other two we figured if we teed off in the 9 o'clock hour we'd only have the last hour of the round in temps near the daytime high. Seems mid/upper 80s are the typical daytime highs then, so not too much to handle.

Is that within the ballpark of what we'd expect? Thanks!

Who knows we have had some wacky weather this year I am sitting here with my windows and doors open in mid April and I cannot remember the last time that happened. We have yet to have a 100* day which is odd. Most likely be looking at low to mid 90's temps with a feels like high 90's.

True that it's been a bonkers year across the continent for trying to predict weather.
Really looking forward to playing those Coore/Crenshaw courses.

The "average" temps would be around 90, but could be as high as 100. In any case, the humidity will be very low so temps in the 90's will be pleasant. Sunscreen and water are important however.

Enjoy! Saguaro and TSN are two of my favorites in town and the South course isn't bad.
