Much to my surprise, after some side-by-side comparing at the range, I've put an old Titleist 904F on an NV shaft back in the bag. Maybe not as long as some of my others, but I can't get around the fact that I'm more consistent with it.

Who'd a thunk it?

Just picked up 2 new, but yet old FWs to experiment with... a 906F4 18.5* 5W (yes, slightly inspired by Rory, but also because all the 909F2 18.5s were way more expensive) and a Sonartec SS-1.5 14* 3W, can't wait for this one. I wanted a NP-99 but couldn't find one in nice shape. To date, nothing has been better than my DET.

Still gaming my TaylorMade Burner 07 3 wood. No real reason to switch. I'm concerned if I do, I might get stuck in this 3 wood ho'ing cycle, trying to capture and replace what I miss about this club. I spend enough time and money ho'ing on drivers.

fairway woods are the most superstitious and untrustworthy clubs in the bag. i've still got two 904fs (13 and 17) with X100 shafts. no matter what i try, i just can't kick em out.

i also JUST bought an original burner bubble AND an orlimar trimetal at goodwill. the classics, IMO. probably wont make the bag, but you've gotta own one...

I switch between a MacGregor V-foil Eye-O-Matic 3 wood and a PING i15 15.5°. Both of these clubs are freakin' sweet! Stock YS6.1 stiff in the Mac and stock TFC700 stiff in the PING. I'd been looking for the Eye-O-Matic for quite a while, and finally found one early this year on ebay (took a LONG time since I'm a lefty). Just a great, great fairway wood. I definitely recommend giving one a try if you can find one. Very underrated clubs IMHO. I may sell the PING one day, but the MAC isn't going anywhere.

I still have the MX-700 5 wood in the bag. I love the sound and feel of this head. I have thought about getting a 4 wood as I only carry one FW, but I hit this 5 wood plenty far enough. I did have a 3 wood in the bag to start the season but I just didn't have the consistency and, becaise of that, the confidence to hit a good shot with it when required. If i'm out of range with this 5 wood on a par 5 then I should probably be laying up anyway.

Driver - TBD
3 Wood - TBD
5 Wood - Mizuno MX700, PF v2
4-PW - Adams CMB, C-Taper
Wedges - Mizuno T4 52/58, S400

Like a few others in this thread, my trusty fairway woods are 15 and 19 degree 904f's. I have flirted with a couple of others, the latest was a G15 4 wood, but the 904s are still in the bag.

I've bought and sold a bunch of FW's this last year. Then I pick up a Ping G10 4 wood w/a Purple Ice, and love it. Then today I get my all time favorite a 906F4 for $26.12 off eBay. Some of those 906's had the best feel ever.

The F11Ti will be in the bag only until the 14.5 XTD get here. You can't argue with 15 yards more carry, you just can't!

This will only be my 3rd fairway wood ever, my first was the 904f. The XTD would have been only the 2nd if the f11 Ti wasn't given to me. Thanks Wrx.

Well, current;y I'm switching between a Titleist 910f and Ping G15 4 wood. When you hit them clean and crisp, they work wonders, BUT that has been a challenge for me thus far. I'm a 14 handicap and have been struggling with the FW. Actually, I have been using my Titleist 910H 19 deg dialed down to 18.25 deg. I just can hit it so much more cleanly and where I want to. That gets me close enough on long par 4 or par 5 holes to reach with a 7-pw.

I am considering something like an Adams XTD to get the distance, accuracy, and forgiveness on that crucial 2nd shot on long holes. I'm headed for a swing analysis/club fitting in a couple of weeks. I'll likely try some different clubs there.

The FW is a zen club for sure. I don't care if it's last year's model. If it works, it works!

Steelhead III 3 wood with Purple Ice 85 FW

I was a lousy fairway wood player until finding that club. No reason to change.

As a teenager I could draw anything. Now I need some help. That combo provides it. On Thursday I hit it twice off the tee on narrow par 4s, with the tee shots measuring 254 and 264.

Great sound doesn't hurt. On the range the nearby players always seem to think I crushed it, even the mishits.

I was going to stick with my "old trusty" 909F2 with the Stock Voodoo, but the RBZ Hype got the best of me. I picked up a used head and threw a better shaft in, and I am a believer! This thing really is a cannon!
