Callaway FT Tour

So I got with a rep from Callaway...

I went through the full fitting process. What in unbelievable experience.. If it made for the FT Tour in 9.5 degrees of loft..matrix ozik 70 gram shaft tipped 1 " .. He also change the length to 44.25.

Anyone else still playing this driver.. The ball jumps off the face.. And feels incredibly solid through impact

Driver - TaylorMade M2 2017 - 9.5°

Hybrid - TaylorMade RBZ 5 wood - 19°

The dispersion went down big time cause.of that.. Ball contact and smash factor improved significantly

I game one and love it. It was neat, the stock set up actually fit me. The Voodoo is one of my favorite shafts and the open face, cg, lie angle, even had my favorite grip on it stock. For me, 45" is the best length. If you look at the face on mine, all the marks from the ball are in the center or very close to it and I can control it very well. Nice to see someone else who found the proper length and went shorter than all these idiots playing 46.5" Burners. It is the absolute longest driver I have ever hit, there is no doubt about that. Like you said, feels so solid and the ball just goes forever. The trajectory this club produces is absolutely perfect. And yes, millions of very smart golfers are still playing one. It is insane.

I have been a long time Callaway driver man starting way back with the BB415 and having most premium options all the way through to the Razr Hawk Tour. For me the FT Tour is the best driver Callaway have made to date. I loved the looks, feel & performance of it. I will be picking one up as my back up. Not tried the Razr Fit but to be honest I'm not liking the looks of it so I'm in no rush to try it.

I have never understood the need for 45+ " shafts unless you are very tall.. I prefer straight over distance all day but thru the fitting and outside ball flight.. This is gonna really make my driver a weapon!!

This doesn't even work for tall people. If you were very tall, your arms would also be very long and long arms reaching from a tall height should finish at the same point as short arms from a short height. One of my friends is 6'6" but he still uses standard length clubs because his arms are really long which finish at a normal golf club length. Very rarely should anyone ever need an overlength shaft and definitely not with the driver. Only the best ballstrikers should ever play anything over 45" and only with a very stiff shaft.

Well I got a buddy that's 6'8" and has short arms. Plays his irons 1 1/2" over standard and by looking at his posture should probably play them even longer. Plays a 46" driver and it still doesn't look right.

You should see him get in my 3 series... funny sh!t.

I just picked one up over the weekend. Figured with all of the great reviews and "real" Voodoo shaft it would at least make a great backup driver for $199. I've since hit it at 2 range sessions and I'm in shock! Shocked that it's easily the worst driver I've ever had the displeasure of hitting.

Good and bad hits all feel the same - a dull thump. The face is far from hot - compared to a Ping G10 or G15 for instance. The sweet spot feels like it's the size of a dime with slight mishits losing significant distance.

Driving is the strongest part of my game and I'm fairly consistent. SS is 108mph and I average 270 yards. I hit most all modern drivers with similar results but this club has me baffled.

Sorry you didn't like the FT. But $199 is pretty steep for one with a stock Voodoo.

My Kwok'd FT Tour w/ Fubuki isn't going anywhere. Too consistent. Too much confidence.

I'm not going to chase 5-7 more yards.

Having said that, that fit driver looks class.

Liked mine alot. Popped the head and Callaway sent me a RHT with the same Voodoo shaft. I'm a much bigger fan of the RHT. If you ask me, it's like the FT Tour with a hotter face and more foregiveness, which would have been my primary complaints about the FT Tour. Hit the RAZR Fit the other night, and it doesn't even come close to the RHT in my opinion.

I'm liking my FT so far, 8.5/Voodoo XVs6. Very solid feel, mid high ball flight with low spin. Also a very neutral driver IMO, with neither a draw or fade bias. This is of the few drivers I've owned that I can hit a controlled fade with but still turn over.

Its pretty forgiving except on bad toe hits, a RHT in comparison will go 10 yds further on a similar toe mishit. The FT feels more muted than my RHT (9.5 loft/RIP S)and isn't as loud. I also like that at 45" I can play the FT as is whereas the RHT is too long at 45.5".

Bag Setup - changes too often to bother listing

In terms of the people who didn't like it it certainly is not for everyone, it is tough to hit. I forget sometimes because everyone on wrx strikes it like Hogan and drives it like Bubba.
There are certainly more forgiving options, it takes a lot to hit it, many people cannot, but in terms of the ballspeeds, that thing off the center? Nothing even touches it for me. What kind of swing do they guys have that say they don't like it? It is very hot.

I've had one for 2 years with a Graphite Design PM 702 at 44.75. The thing is awesome and I think pretty forgiving for a tour style driver. Only now have I started looking at something else, like an i20 or Razr Fit.

Razr fit blows away ft tour for me. Definitely worth looking in to

How much do you want for the FT with the PM702?
